I recently had a rather unpleasant experience with my local Goodwill store, which has left me feeling frustrated and disappointed. I purchased a dryer for $100 as we were in desperate need of one at the time. Unfortunately, due to transportation constraints, we couldn't take it home immediately.
The very next day, an unexpected family emergency arose that required us to leave town urgently. Upon our return from dealing with this situation, we went straight to the Goodwill store hoping to pick up our newly acquired dryer. To our dismay, they informed us that they had resold it without any prior notice or attempt to contact us.
Despite presenting them with the receipt proving our purchase just days before their resale action took place; they refused both refund and store credit options available under such circumstances. This lack of customer service was deeply disheartening considering their reputation as an organization aimed at helping those less fortunate.
It is particularly distressing when charitable organizations like Goodwill prioritize profit over assisting individuals who genuinely require support during challenging times by selling donated items instead of providing aid directly through donations or affordable prices for essential goods.
In situations like ours where unforeseen events prevented immediate collection after purchase but within a reasonable timeframe specified on receipts should be taken into account by goodwill stores across locations nationwide so customers are not unfairly penalized financially while trying desperately meet basic needs amidst personal crises.
Overall,I am extremely dissatisfied with how this particular branch handled my case, and I believe there is room for improvement regarding transparency, customer communication, and fair business practices.I hope sharing my experience will encourage better accountability among similar establishments...
Read moreModern-day scammers. So, I bought a few DVDs yesterday and watched one of them last night. Turns out that DVD was scratched beyond words and was unwatchable. Yeah, maybe I should have checked, but this is what happens when you put trust into people who sell you things. So, I took it back and the purple haired woman behind the counter said they weren't able to accept returns. WHAT? Another woman confirmed they were not responsible for the damaged DVD. I told them to keep it and that this policy wasn't right. As I walked out the door, I could hear the purple haired woman ask the other what should she do with it (as she held it over the trashcan) The other lady said something inaudible and the purple haired woman put it in a return bin so it could be resold. People think that supporting Goodwill is a good thing. It is not. Do not support "For Profit" organizations because their CEOs depend on you to make their millions. In the Grand-Scheme of things, it was $2.49 and I already own that movie digitally, so I shouldn't care. During times like this, we need to stop supporting nefarious organizations that are solely out to...
