My husband and I searched on line for a place in Michigan to purchase Indian clothes and came across Variety Silks. I called left a message which was promptly returned and within two hours we were at Variety Silks where we were met by Shanti the owner.

We needed clothes for an Indian wedding and had no idea what to wear but Variety Silks has the most fabulous Indian clothes to fit the occasion.

With Shanti's knowledge and expertise on how to dress for an Indian wedding plus a wide assortment of beautiful clothes we quickly realize that we have chosen the best place to make our purchase. During the process of selecting and fitting our clothes we never felt rushed. Shanti calmly and gracefully showed the correct ways to wear Indian clothing and the ideal accessories to go with each outfit. She also took time to explain some customs and practices of an Indian weddings.

I love my gorgeous lehenga!!! That's me in the pink. I needed a lehenga for my friend's wedding. I only had a we before the wedding and with a guick Google search, I found Variety Silks. As soon as I walked in, Shanthi greeted me and showed me multiple outfits. It came down to two and she gave me the best advice on which one to pick based on the occasion. She educated me on the different ways to wear the dupatta shawl based on the region the brides family was from in India. Immediately afterwards, she made the appropriate measurements. She also had multiple accessories to with the dress. I purchased my bracelets from her. She also had beautiful head pieces, but I borrowed mine from a friend. When I returned to pick up my lehenga, it was bit tight under the arms after trying it on. Her seamstress was able to make a quick sewing adjustment and it fit perfectly. I felt like an Indian princess and received so many compliments. You must go to her shop if you want excellent service and show up at any event looking gorgeous. My parents first went to Variety Silks about 15 years ago in the Garden City location. We hadn’t gone for a while and went back now, maybe after 8 years or so and it was like no time had passed. Shanti remembered my mom like it was yesterday. She is extremely friendly, helpful, and understanding. Shanti will work with you to find exactly what you are looking for. She always has quality clothing that is also stitched very well (something that is hard to come by with desi clothes). The store also has many options for a range of body sizes which is not common in south Asian clothing stores. Finally, she is not pushy. She values the customers likes and comforts and will not pressure you to purchase something at her store if it doesn’t fit your criteria. The cherry on top is Shanti is extremely meticulous and patient. She will go the extra mile to pack all your dresses neatly and ensure you are not missing any pieces.
