6/20/25 I had a pain pump implanted at Premier surgery center of Louisville. On 6/22 my husband took me to U of L Shelbyville E. R. due to experiencing headaches, weakness, dizziness, and difficulty urinating. Post-op instructions were to seek medical attention were I to experience headaches since my two incisions were in my spinal area. I had several abnormal labs that staff did not discuss with me nor seemed concerned with and was just told my CT Scan was “fine”. Basically, their discharge diagnosis was constipation even though I was continued experiencing the above mentioned symptoms. I proceeded to tell her that I had been experiencing constipation my entire life. That was just a convenient diagnosis and poor service. I never saw my nurse again once she inserted my IV which was a difficult feat since I have extremely small veins. My husband had to go find me a blanket and another pillow, he took me to the restroom and found me a specimen cup for me to use, he told another nurse that my IV fluids were empty, and he walked me out to our car without assistance or a wheel chair ( which I think makes you liable). They were experiencing a high patient volume and they were extremely, poorly staffed for such a huge influx of patients. I just happened to get put “ at the back of the bus” because they didn’t deem my symptoms as high priority. My husband and I were there six hours and will be billed as such. Is the hospital going to take into account everything that my husband had to do for me since you did not staff the E.R.with a tech/ aide? Good thing I didn't experience a stroke or was leaking spinal fluid due to my surgery. Anyway, I continued to experience these symptoms even until 6/24/25. Therefore, I just got ice and placed it on the back of my neck to relieve the pain. I have been to U of L Shelbyville E. R. In the past and had received excellent care, but in this case the experience was quite different!! You “dropped the ball” this time!! I was hospitalized there in February of 2023 ( I believe that was the date). Everyone from the E.R. to the floor I was placed on was excellent. That’s why we drove the 5 minutes from our home to your facility, but...
Read moreI used to go to this ER location in particular as my family doctor was affiliated with them and my mother used to know many of the people there so I felt I could trust them, but that changed. After I was diagnosed with a chronic headache condition and a mental health condition (PNES) the staff began to disregard my heath issues and worse actually deliberately cause injury to me and make crass jokes at my expense. Going so far as to apply pressure to my hand once so badly it was swollen and sore for 4 days and joked about crushing my hand with a wheelchair or their boots and seeing if that would have been better. I over heard this while walking back to my room. They questioned my medical helmet repeatedly a device a doctor must prescribe and once even stepped over me when I had collapsed on the floor in pain from a bladder issue. Because my initial blood work was negative and I have PNES they disregarded my symptoms. (A visit to a urologist on my own because I was really really sick found out the problem was a severe infection)(By the way PNES is not factious disorder or hypochondria) but this is the treatment I received because of that illness. In my case the condition is triggered by the migraines and chronic pain I suffer from. My doctor has written in my history which they have access to but again it is dismissed. Mind you these are just a few of my own personal experiences and I could go on but they don’t make me feel safe and I find them both humiliating and unprofessional. This has been the case sense receiving my medical diagnosis of PNES the treatment does not feel like treatment at all but mocking even cruel unprofessional behavior from healthcare workers who should know better and at one point did. Now it is repeated medical gaslighting. I will not be returning and would never recommend this hospital ER to anyone. They don’t care anymore. I would give zero...
Read moreOn 5/14 I rushed my Mom to the hospital, U of L Shelbyville. My mom is 82 and was experiencing end of life symptoms. I was not aware at the time exactly what was wrong. We arrived around 5:00 AM. The night shift nurses and Doctor were excellent. When the shift changed at around 7:00 AM there was one nurse (with dark hair) who was the rudest most uncaring person I have ever experienced at at any hospital possibly in my life. When I spoke to the shift manager she said that I was the one being rude. How could I possibly be rude. I asked for some extra pillows and told them my Mom wanted to do go the bathroom to which I received the reply word for word, "I'm not taking her to the bathroom, she's been saying she needed to pee ever since she got here." This nurse wasn't even there when my mother arrived. I mean if there was a reason she could have said, maybe we should try to use a bedpan or something like that. I didn't know. I was just a very upset daughter trying to help her mom. I know nurses have a very difficult job and I never expect them to be peaches and cream. But just a tiny bit of care and understanding would be nice. Most nurses go above and beyond that. I love our little hospital and have been there many times with my elderly parents, my son and myself. I've always raved about how great it is and how we are so fortunate to have it. My mom was transported to Louisville and is receiving the best of care. I'll not go into detail here but I will be contacting Patient Experience once things settle down. I never post reviews but my experience and the way my dying mother and I were treated by this one individual has just continued to eat at me. I'm hoping this review might help get it off my chest so my focus can remain on my mom, where...
