The Sport's Card Zone — Local services in Shorewood

Great little local card shop.

They dabble in Pokemon with some new stock and even some Sun and Moon type stuff.

Currently out on display was like 3 different sword and shield sets with open booster boxes for single boosters (base, rebel clash and darkness ablaze I believe). Also in the open booster boxes they have Unified Minds, Darkness Ablaze, Unbroken Bonds and a couple more.

The single card selection is small but not too bad of quality at this point. Of note I eyeballed heavily a Holo Raichu from Fossil set. There was also a Reverse Zard from an earlier set.

Finally, for the poke people, they sell sealed booster boxes. Currently have some Sword and Shield and Sun and Moon stuff I believe. Also, they are just starting to get some Yu-Gi-Oh. It is not my main interest but, due to nostalgia, is nice to get some cheap $3.50 packs just to get something to open and scratch that itch.

Obviously, the store is mostly and primarily a Sports Card store. But do not let that fool you. They have more to offer!

Prices on said products is not 'cheap' but also not overly expensive compared with online. Once you factor in shipping and wait time the small premium on some of it may in fact be worth it or pay for itself. The Vivid Voltage sealed Booster Boxes for $250 being a great example of that.

The young man who helped me was extremely kind and knowledgeable! A genuine Pokemon fan since a youngster like myself who seemingly has a near dream job.

Cannot recommend this place enough. And if you are Pokemon fan get in this place and buy some stuff so we force their hand to get more Pokemon!!

i ordered online from a site called preocards. on their site it says their contact information is this company the sports card zone same address and ph#. when i contacted sports card zone to question the fraud they say they have never heard of preocards. anyway i ordered 2 separate items a day apart. i ordered $90 baseball card order and $50 baseball card order. items did get shipped. after about 14 days i received the 1st item and it was a $2.00 bracelet. they had put the wrong address for me on both items. the mail person recognized my name so they delivered it. i got the 2nd item a few days later and it was the same thing. this was a total online scam. the sports zone might not have anything to do with it but it still lists the sports card zone 852 sharp dr shorewood il as...

SCZ is our favorite card shop in the area. Me and my two sons have been customers for about five years and always enjoy visiting the store. We have bought, sold, traded and sent cards in to be graded with them. The staff is friendly and very knowledgeable about the hobby.

Over the summer(2025), they had trade nights once a month. My kids had SO MUCH FUN. Those trade nights really ignited the spark in them/ their love for the hobby and what it should be for kids.

They always have very fair prices. One of the very few card shops where we can shop and pretty much assume their prices match the current market. I would totally recommend this store if you live in the Plainfield/ Joliet area or are visiting the area. Great place,...
