Former employee here: NEW-HIRES BEWARE!!!
I was employed at Ross for 1 year, received two separate promotions, and ended up having to close my contract early. I believe that too many chefs spoil the broth, and there are far too many managers and members of management at the store, all with different opinions and different methods to run the center. Often times customer service is forgotten about, usually due to laziness or lack of respect.
I was denied a position into senior management after essentially being promised the job, and I was frequently chastised by the store manager of the Sierra Vista center. Nothing was ever good enough for them, and their standards were always scattered. I ended up having to close my contract early, because they yelled at me in front of customers for trying to take my lunch break early. I was having a blood sugar crash, and needed to take my meal so that I could recover and finish the day. 7-8 customers witnessed them yelling at me, and all of them told me that I was right to stand up for myself. I ended up going home early that day, and closed my contract two days early. I am now doing better, however it is still challenging dealing with the emotional distress and trauma that that store brought me.
If you're looking for a first job, maybe the store would work for you. But please be advised, moving up through the promotion system is not advised. They will try to get you into management quickly, so that they can have you do more work for the same minimum wage. I choose to remain anonymous in this review, as the store manager is known to retaliate. They frequently spread rumors about me to other associates, many of whom were my friends, and take no shame and destroying people's reputations and morale.
1/10, would never recommend for anything more than a...
Read moreWell, let me start with this little piece of info, I shopped during holiday rush. With that aside I can say that this place is usually a good stop for almost anything, if you can find it. We are oozing at a shop that sells what other stores couldn't sell now at a lower price. Example being, I got a one gallon water bottle listed as; 'was $20 now $10' so you can find things that are of a good deal here. Sadly though, the store is highly trafficked during holiday (Christmas season for me) times and thus we had the check out line wrapping almost 360° around the store, and it took me nearly an hour to reach the registers for checkout. I took advantage of my time and siphoned out what I would certainly get and what I wouldn't. Then grouped by types, including what had the alarm tags. Removed all hangers prior register walk up. The lady was quite happy for this. Picked up quite a tote to take home at a rather swell price, so usually worth the search for the prices. Just be ready for an hours wait during certain holiday times. They were great for everything else. Shoes all line the walls, ladies on the right as soon as you enter, follow this wall counterclockwise and you reach kids Shoes. Men's are on the west wall near the front. Clothes throughout the middle and easy to find your size and gender you seek. Most kids toys are in the back and lining the non shoe walls are other art pieces and kitchen decor. So not bad when...
Read moreCustomer service is not a priority at this particular Ross. 16 people in line, 1 cashier, 2 other employees to include the manager on duty chatting while the line moves 1 customer every 5 minutes. The 2nd star is for the items and savings, otherwise it would be 1 star. So do not go here expecting excellent customer service. Go for the savings and products savings... Update: I added 1 more star for the young lady who was quote professional in resolving an issue despite the other cashier having a personal meltdown. When we entered the store he kept complaining in front of customers that he is never going to get off of the register, made a rather rude announcement for customers to take the hangers off the clothes if they want things to speed up, overall attitude in front of customers just unprofessional and...
