Update: (Read until the end) I had a very unprofessional and unsatisfactory encounter with the lady that owns this store. I needed my GameCube fixed and payed around $40 to have the reader repaired. The manager gave my console back and it was still in the same condition, not reading disks. I didnāt not feel the need to pay even more money to possibly get the GameCube back again in the same condition. Next I buy a Nintendo DS from this same person. It was $20 off ($40 total for the DS), but the console had damage to the screens. Little did I know exactly how much damage. After playing for about an hour the DS screen was so unrecognizable that it was unplayable. After asking for store credit in return for the broken DS, I was refused in a very rude manor. Even after trying to negotiate a fair way to make things right, I was told to leave the store and that I wasnāt a valued customer. This was after spending around $1,000 in the last month at this place. Never again will I trust a retro store unless I have a long history with them. Itās sad to see an adult acting so childish over a product they didnāt even throughly check before dishing it out to their valued customers. If the owner can scam you, SHE WILL. Very sad experience.
Side note: I am still willing to make up and take down this review if I can have in store credit in exchange for my purchase. I had a very good experience with the other two workers at this game store, but the owner has ruined my relationship with the store.
Update: I would like to start this by saying I have had way more good experiences at Big Reds than this one bad experience I had. This whole ordeal really just frustrated me because I was unaware of how damaged the console was. I have since returned to Big Reds Retro Games and realize that the person who did me wrong is no longer working at the establishment. I was given $20 in store credit and even made up with the store owner on everything that happened. I felt bad at first because I wasnāt told the full extent of the damage to the console, but I feel better now only spending $20 on the console. I feel like this is more than a fair price for the damage. Thank you Adam for being the one to reach out to me. You are an awesome store owner and know exactly how a small business...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreamazing selection and most of the time good customer service. It seems I only ever really donāt have a good time is when I believe Adam is at the counter. Heās very passive aggressive, like heās annoyed that Iām even trying to buy something (mostly in my previous transactions). I come in every now and then to take a look around with my partner, the last time in they had a very good Selection of PS2 titles behind the counter. the other person that was helping us at the counter. Iām not sure of his name, but he was very chill. We saw a couple that we were very interested in. At the end, they offered a decent price break for buying multiple at once so we did (two of the games in my pile were a couple hundred dollars or more apiece). The only thing that really put my partner and I off was that Adam was pushing for a tip. Like staring down the screen, pointing where the tip buttons were. It made us both very uncomfortable and I donāt know if Iāll return after that. Which is sad because the owner is very nice and Iāve only had good Interactions with her:( if anything, I would prefer if the tip we did leave would go to the guy that helped us when we were looking behind the counter, he was very nice. Iām still very happy with my purchase but the interaction at the end just...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI went here after acquiring a crt with only a cable output that I bought primarily to play my ps2 on. I spent days racking my brain, the internet, and even a gentleman at best buy for any knowledge for what I needed. The best buy gentleman told me to go to Big Red's. So I walked into the store, I asked the 2 employees, and one of them not only knew exactly what I needed(turned out I needed an adapter), but even had some in the store. This being my first time in the store, I looked at the games. And the games were moderately priced. I've been to a couple of retro game stores bc I love collecting & playing older games and some stores will charge a pretty penny for older games, but not Big Red's! With that & the help I received from great employees, I knew then & there this was my new favorite game store. I tell people about it all the time! I wish I'd known about it sooner! Thank you guys for making my little dream happen, & I'll definitely be back to...
