TL;DR – they get what they can from customers by overpromising and underdelivering and deception. Sold me a bed that was falsely advertised and could not (or chose not to) help me when I was unhappy with it, even after 2 referral purchases and a repeating customer from 1100 miles away. Long version: I purchased my first bed from BBD over 20 years ago which I was very, very happy with. So much so that instead of purchasing a new mattress upon moving to NC, I had arranged for them to fix/adjust/replace whatever was needed and have them ship it for me. I was delighted to even find out they included a zipper so I could eventually change out the inside again in the future by myself. Fast forward a few years and I’d been able to highly recommend and refer a friend of mine to purchase not one but ended up purchasing TWO beds to ship here to NC for her and her mother. Spoiler: they don’t honor nor do they care about customer referrals. Fast forward about 7 years after moving and noticing my bed is starting to sink, which I think is relative lifespan, and after a couple rounds of phone calls it was essentially decided that I’d have to pay about $200+ to refill and/or add more foam to the inside; which I wasn’t sure was a good option for me considering the age of the bed and wouldn’t correct the actual sagging, would just be like putting a band aid on a pothole. Now, it’s been 2 years ago I’d since purchased a new bed from them and this has been a whole different experience. I did this all by phone because there was like a 2-day-only 50% off sale on mattresses so I had to jump on it. We ultimately narrowed down the price and the mattress I was getting for it, which was explained to be most similar to my old bed they no longer make (due to upgrades and new ā€˜technology’ or whatever terminology). Upon receiving this mattress, I have been bothered. This bed looks absolutely nothing like the plush, thick, comfortable mattress I thought I was getting. I had immediately questioned, via email, what happened. He assured me that it’s ā€œdefinitely an upgrade to what you got back in 2011ā€ and explained the quilts and border have a ā€œsimpler look and style.ā€ I was not at all thrilled about my purchase and took about a month for me to finally give in and give it a try. Not impressed. I actually had a half inch thick, 4x2 board under the mattress (to prevent sagging on my old mattress) that I could literally feel through the new mattress. The ā€˜upgraded technology’ was definitely not noticed. When I called and spoke to my sales rep on two different occasions, he not only told me the photos on their website were incorrect and they were eventually updating their site and the pictures I was looking at were not actively what they were manufacturing, but that the body pain I’d been experiencing on my new mattress would subside after my body ā€˜settles’ to it. I’ve NEVER had body pain sleeping on any other mattresses (hotels, airb&b, family, friends); I’ve even slept 2 weeks on an air mattress when I come home to visit and never experienced any pains as I had with this new mattress. When I finally spoke to the unhelpful GM, he explained that I’m basically sh!t outta luck and the only option I really had was to ship it back at $400-$600 rate for them to make any adjustments that would STILL ultimately cost me to do.. refusing to help me any other way outside of that. So, for the last two years I have continued to sleep on my old mattress and my new one is just a sore reminder of shady business deals and wasted money. It's my opinion they are selling cheaper materials with the same enthusiasm as their previously known quality beds and reaping the benefits.

Recently my family and I discovered another local gem, Beds By Design in Sioux Falls. We purchased a bed for our daughter and were delighted with how it all went. At BBD, their range of custom mattresses is unmatched, and the buying experience was elevated by the 'beducation' we received from Eric. His expertise and engaging manner made choosing the perfect bed a breeze. Eric's knowledge about sleep health and mattress technology truly set them apart. The personalized service and attention to detail at Beds By Design are commendable. For anyone seeking a great conversation and low pressure sales approach, this is your go-to destination. Highly recommended for their superior quality and educational approach to mattress buying!

I’ve been sleeping on a Beds By Design mattress for about 5 years now, and my sleep has never been better. As great as the bed is, it’s the pillows that truly changed my life—absolutely game-changing comfort. I also have one of their beanbags, but I haven’t gotten much use out of it… my dog claimed it as his own and refuses to give it back!

For more than five years, I’ve been sleeping in a recliner due to chronic back issues. I was introduced to the Omni pillow in South Dakota, while visiting my cousin.I was so impressed with the support and comfort of the pillow, we went to the Sioux Falls store, so I could purchase one. Upon arrival I met with a member of their professional sales staff, who introduced me to their brand of mattresses. I thought if their pillows were this great, I had to see what they offered in mattresses. With my condition, which included three back surgeries, I know In less than five minutes after laying on a mattress, that I’m gonna be stuck in place unless I get up immediately. I had three such encounters, until I laid on the ā€œIndependenceā€ mattress. It was firm and supportive, but most impressively, I wasn’t feeling the sharp stabbing pain from laying on my back. The sales staff tried to explain the quality material they put in the mattress, and I was still in disbelief that I didn’t feel the pain, which I normally feel when I lay down. At that point, I didn’t care what was in the mattress I had to have it. It was effortlessly shipped to California. I could not wait for a good night sleep on a mattress instead of my recliner. I wanted to wait to write this review until I had slept on it for 30 nights. I can’t begin to explain how well I slept through the nights, woke up well rested, and how many pain level has decreased just because of a mattress. My wife who has no medical problems, initially said the Omni pillows were awesome, and that she would give the mattress a try. Initially she said the mattress was really firm, but admittedly she said she is sleeping better. Being a very active and avid runner, she said the mattress was helping her recover quicker. She said it was probably due to sleeping more supported, which makes her sleep more soundly. Thank you BBD for improving our quality of life with...

I adopted a little dog from the humane society in Sioux Falls earlier this month and got a certificate to stop in a get a free bed for my fur baby at Bed mattress Factory. So I stopped in and while I was there figured I would check their beds out as I have been looking on line for about 5 months for the best bed and mattress for back pain. I hadn't tried beds out in years. I have a sleep number bed and have had two of them. Time to upgrade. All the people at BBD were super nice and did I mention pet friendly. Spenser the assistant manager helped me and was super knowledgeable about all the beds . They had a bunch of mattress stacked up in the back with the corners cut out so you could see how they are made. Plus they show you all the foams and coils put into different mattress. Take your pick . Try them all out. Get an adjustable bed. You spend so much time in bed and you need to sleep well. I have a lot of issues with my back an I loved the bed I picked. The first one I tried. Oh and it vibrates and the frame is adjustable. The best part is they make the beds right there you can see them. Plus, if it doesn't work for u . They will fix it. They will restuff the foam in three to five years and if you decide to upgrade your bed they will take your bed on a trade in. Now how cool is that. Who else does that. It's a private owned company. Small business, so am I, an was happy to give them my buisness. I can't tell you how happy I am with their service. Oh plus, let me tell you about the pillows they make. Same concept. They make them there. If they have to much stuffing or not enough they will fix it so its comfortable for your sleeping, amazing pillows. I rate this company and their staff a 5/5 . Go check them out. If your in the market for a bed. Tell them Babs and Kiki sent you ā¤šŸ¾ Kiki loves her bed they...
