Our shopping experience started by working with Erin to pick out what furiture and accessories she suggested would be best for our space. That went well. But the experience since then has been negative, to say the least. We purchased four chairs, a couch, and three area rugs. They came in at different times due to delays in the supply chain. We paid the bill for each piece as it was delivered. We had difficulties with two pieces that were faulty, and since we bought the extended warranties, they were replaced. It shows the quality of their products is not long-lasting if two out of the five pieces needed to be replaced before six-months' time. Now ten months after we received a price quote and after paying each bill IN FULL as they came in, we receive notice that we owed another $900. When asked why, we were told there was an accounting error. When asked what the error was, two different women could not account for the specific reason. They couldn't be more specific because of the outdated billing system their store uses which can't separate specific items from a bulk purchase. They blamed it on a bookkeeping error from one of the exchanges, but couldn't say specifically what the error was. We shouldn't have had to pay any more since we paid each bill in-full each step in the way. The company is not willing to help nor explain it any further than a "billing error" for pieces that were completely paid for months before. They can't seem to accept the fact that we don't understand how more could be owed on a paid bill and why we might be suspicious of it NEARLY A YEAR LATER. We had no other option than to pay the $900 even though we had proof we paid everything they told us we owed. Exasperating!
This is extremely poor business practice. How can we trust that there actually was an error? Who is to say they can't come back to use four months from now saying we owe another $500? All they say is they made an error and now it is our responsibility to pay. No hard proof...just their word. They can do this to anyone, so BUYER BEWARE. If you want to end up in small-claims court trying to prove you paid what you owed, shop here. Otherwise, go to one of the other multitude of furniture stores in the region where they won't come after you ten months after the purchase and tell you, "By the way, you need to pay more money for our mistake." I will never step foot in any HOM Furniture Store again and have been spreading the word to everyone I know about their shoddy and...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI had waited for a custom order for living room, was promised the company was long standing and backed their work. It was because of the pandemic, after about 9 or 10 months, was told AGAIN of a delay, if I wanted to continue to wait, Sally said the manager would take 10% off. Ok, we will wait. I never saw a refund, the furniture was fully paid for, so I had a credit, ordered a coffee table that was put on the original ticket so as to avoid extra shipping. The company could not fill the order after 12-13 months...YES Months! So I took a lot of time again to pick out what was promised to be available in a couple months. The manager said I owed an extra $700. No, I wasn't giving them any more money since they had thousands for over a year of mine. The previous discount did not even come up, just vanished. Then offered to exchange equally by Sally the sales lady. Except, well no that order couldn't be filled and it was again delayed, probably would be an extra 30 days. NO we were extremely patient. When I asked for my full refund, there was so much confusion on my original purchase amount. The tables were part of a credit from the original purchase and NO ONE knew anything about it now! What a mess. I did get my money back because I had proof of my payments but there was a lot of deception going on and not be forth right about the availability of furniture, promises, promises. Went to SD Furniture Mart, found what I LOVED, ten times better than the original picks from HOM. Was shown what was in stock and available, Sherry was completely up front, knowledgeable, & a very good sales person. I got my new living room furniture in 8 DAYS! And my back is finally feeling better since the old pieces were hurting both myself & husband. I cannot recommend Hom...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI walked in to the store looking to buy living room furniture. Right away I was greeted by Laura Johnson. I told her I thought I wanted a sectional and I wanted soft and comfy... she immediately took me to the set I ended up buying ...of course I asked to see more options but in the end She knew exactly what I wanted and liked and had literally just met me! I eventually bought the first set she showed me! She offered to draw it up on the computer so I could see exactly what I wanted and needed for the size of my room. After l left I emailed her the room specs. She emailed back what fit best and had it laid out nice!
From there I sent her my master bedroom size and a generally ālookā I thought I wanted, I asked her to send me options for a bedroom set! She then sent me a link to a beautiful bedroom set. I live an hour away so once I made it back there, she took me right to the bedroom set she had sent in the email. I loved it in person too! Of course I wanted to see more ... just in case I saw something better ... NOPE Laura was right again!
We then looked at end tables/ coffee tables for the living room. She had picked out exactly what I liked ... but again... I wanted to see other options. We carried different tables over to the couch... and of course Laura was spot on again!
Laura is very good at what she does. I am very indecisive, yet I know exactly what I want once I see it. She knew exactly what to show me, knew the products in the store very well and didnāt make me feel rushed or pressured. This was by far the best furniture shopping experience I have ever had!
