The staff is so surly, it's amazing. Much like so many other businesses in the area. They seem.annoyed you are there, refuse or complain about doing the most expected work. My mother and I were in there today and the woman at the checkout was upset we entered her lane. It was Express, but there is no sign, so I guess we should just know better after watching three groups being checked out at her register. She was snappy with my mother. Stated they just moved in to the updated store the previous day. Some how she acted as if this was our fault for existing in her lane. She begrudgingly price checked two items, complained about how annoyed all the employees were. The manager was so nice and even helped us out to the car after witnessing what was going on. The check out staff had no idea what to do with four items I did not want and I am too pregnant to walk around the store putting them back. I have done all kinds of jobs including high volume inventory and have never ever acted this way.

Ā Ā Ā Read moreFood selection was fine but prices were pretty high but you get that in a tourist area so no big deal. The actual problem was I was told by not 1 but 2 different cashiers, with one of them being the CUSTOMER SERVICE DESK that they couldn't exchange 12 quarters for 3 dollar bills as I was purchasing $70+ worth of groceries. It was so stupid it was comical that an entire grocery store running 6+ registers at once plus a giant safe up front couldn't come up with 12 quarters, all while I watched the manager pull multiple rolls from their safe during this conversation. We eventually 'haggled' to 8 quarters as 12 was just too far out of the question for their customer service desk...Ridiculous.
As another review said below, this store/staff needs a reality check. I know it's a hard concept to grasp but people in fact are going to shop at your grocery story and ask for normal exchanges of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreThe customer support function could use a refresher course. Yesterday I accidently left my Pig card at home. The customer support person said "I'll give you one chance to try a (phone) number." Like many people these days, I have several phone numbers, and of course I choose the wrong one.
I've been a part time resident of Sister Bay for over 15 years. Our family shops at the Pig virtually every weekend throughout each summer and periodically during the rest of the year. I felt like a grade school kid being scolded for forgetting my card. In our large chain grocery (Jewel) in the suburbs of Chicago, they simply would have swiped a generic card if the number I gave was incorrect (providing a discount) and would have been happy to have my business.
On an additional note, we are THRILLED the Pig has expanded -- it was...
