SAVOR Barbeque & Taphouse — Restaurant in Sister Bay

As a former chef and apprentice to a placing bbq pitmaster (KCBS) I can confidently say that this is THE BEST BBQ IN WI I’ve ever had!

The owners are incredibly nice and they know their craft well.

I’m a beef man at heart with smoked brisket and burnt ends being pretty high tier so I ordered that promptly. One of the owners insisted on the chicken being excellent so I got some of that as well as some St. Louis style ribs, and pork burnt ends. Sides were coleslaw and bbq beans.

Everything was DELICIOUS.

I started with the chicken (mainly because I was going to save brisket/best for last)and I was blown away. It was smoked well and wasn’t all fatty or chewy like I sometimes find with chicken wings (texture is huge to me). These were very easy to eat and cooked perfectly.

The St. Louis style ribs were excellent. I find that bbq joints tend to either under smoke or over smoke meats (with under smoking being significantly more common and a graver sin) Savor’s smoke level across the board (pork, beef, chicken) was on point. Meat pulled nicely from the bones and was awesome dipped in the side of bbq sauce.

I’m not sure what kind of bbq sauce they use (or if they make it themselves) but it complimented the meats well flavor wise and poured easily. It wasn’t a ketchup-based gluggy mess like I’ve found on occasion elsewhere.

The pork belly burnt ends were so good that as I’m writing this my mouth is watering and I haven’t even described them. They are meat candy. These chunks of smoked caramelized goodness are just that. If there’s any available when you go, order them and thank me later.

The brisket was wonderful! Smoke level and rub were great and the texture was exactly what I look for.

Best. Barbecue. EVER. No doubt about it!!! We ordered the 3 Meats & 2 Sides platter. The Texas-style brisket just melts away in your mouth; the pulled pork paired with their signature house-made bbq sauce is divine (add pickles and you’ll swear you went right to heaven); and the burnt ends pork explodes with immaculate flavor! We also tried both the Tex-Mex style slaw and the classics coleslaw, and they were exactly what you want from either- delicious! The opus magnum of the meal was the brisket burger. There has never existed a burger with such impeccable balance of natural juice, sauce, toppings, cheese— it’s everything you’re imagining and so much more. We had the BEST experience having the Savor BBQ food truck come on site for a family birthday celebration. They were extremely responsive and friendly during communication leading up to the date, which made planning easy and stress free . The food truck itself is so cool and made for a fun sight! Most of all the food is UNREAL. I think it may have been the best BBQ any of us had ever had, and our group came from all over the country.
