I visited the store to return an item without a receipt. I fully understood that I would be subject to the no-receipt return policy and was prepared to follow it. I even had my ID ready because I work in retail and have returned things without a receipt before. However, the older associate who assisted me handled the situation in a manner that was unprofessional and dismissive.
Specifically: • The associate spoke to me in a condescending tone and made me feel as though I was attempting to do something dishonest, which was insulting. • She commented stating, “Oh you must do this often” when I was prepared with my ID and looked at me in disbelief for a few moments when I did not have my previous form of payment. • When checking out at self checkout, she stood over my basket and watched me scan each item. Another associate asked for help finding a product in the sewing section and she loudly exclaimed “I can’t leave the front” to her coworker. I recently worked at Michael’s and understand that cashiers leave to work on go backs and clean in between. Her loudly stating this for me to hear was rude and disrespectful. Even if the policy has changed, her standing over my basket, watching me as I checked out was incredibly disrespectful. She was not witnessed doing this to the other customers at the self check out prior to me.
I left my would be purchase and went to another location due to this one older associate. I understand risk management and how associates are working to ensure that there isn’t theft or shrink happening but the first thing taught in retail is to observe and document but not to make anyone feel uncomfortable. I’ve used the behavior that she showed to train my new hires on what not to do.
I felt stereotyped simply because I lost my receipt, used a gift card, and being prepared with my ID simply because I know the return process.
Hopefully, they offer a little more training so that customers feel as if they are not doing anything wrong when...
Read moreToday is August 15th, at Friday 5pm the manager on duty that claims her name MiMi was extremely rude. I tried to exchange my item.I just opened the item upon my second use. I’m unable to because the glue is sticking to the top making the product unable to be opened for use. I called corporate while in store and asked for name conformation and Mimi rolled her eyes and ignored me. She said she doesn’t want to speak with corporate. The policy is I can exchange as long as I have my receipt and Mimi said she won’t be doing so, policy or not. What on earth type of training and management is this ? How can a human being that is so unprofessional be hired as a manager. I have spent too much money at Michael’s in general. I wish Joanne’s never went out of business because their service is way better. I will never return here. I have a huge following on social media and I will be reviewing this location On TikTok. I’ll make sure all my followers are aware of this disgusting service at Michael’s. We will stick to Walmart or SHEIN. Same products and way better prices with superior customer service...
Read moreClearly my review from a week ago was taken down as I'm quite sure the grossly incompetent store managment at Michael's Snellville lobbied to have it removed. Yes, what I posted was extremely negative, and this location and company is MORE than deserving of it. The store manager Jean is a whining harpy and a would be bully to employees, and is usual for her kind, a total suckup to district management and customers. Don't go here, don't ever consider this company an an employer. Go up the road to Hobby Lobby, who has more choices and often for much lower prices. Michael's is under the false impression that they're an elite store in their classification of retailer. Nothing could be further from the truth.
NOTIFICATION: If this review disappears as well, multiple negative reviews will appear on this page, and drive the star point rating average into the gutter. If Michael's can't handle negative reviews, then perhaps they should clean up their act as a business. Suck it...
