It's a lovely gem in the heart of a town that's had a streak of bad luck in the past couple of decades. We're rebuilding now, thanks to the money that's coming in from Azalea. Our city is getting nice again!
The stores are all large-names/big businesses, but really, that's what a place like this needs to succeed. El Paseo's area (a few blocks up, just over the bridge) is pretty much dead because they didn't let the big businesses in until it was too late.
A lot of people are complaining about it being crowded... well, if you go on the weekends or right when people get off of school/work, of course it's going to be crowded. Apart from the Park, it's pretty much the only nice area in town unless you want to drive over to Downey.
If you go on a normal afternoon, there will be people wandering about, but it's never too bad. They have big events every now and then that look pretty fun, and I've personally never had an issue with parking.
I've also never had an issue with any business there except for Petco and CVS. The former razor-burned my poor dog so badly I had to take her to the vet, and then didn't bother washing her. They just sprayed her with perfume and left her to bleed until I got there and rushed her to her vet (who happens to work on site at an animal hospital, thank goodness.) They still expected me to pay full price for them hurting my baby-dog, AND refused to assist with medical bills until I went to the higher ups. The latter (CVS) are just plain rude and downright terrible. I transferred all of my prescriptions there, so they know what I get every single month... however, after nearly a year of being told they were out of stock, or that they had no record of me needing a medication filled, and ignoring calls/faxes from my doctor, they straight out said to my face that they "didn't serve people like me there on a regular basis because it wasn't their problem to know what the people in the city needed every month," and that I should "get over it, and wait a few days. Going off my pills for a week or two wouldn't hurt me." (Actually it would.) I drive to the Walgreens in Bell Gardens to get my meds now. Not only are they always happy to see me, but they have my meds practically waiting for me. They order enough to supply my regular fill of pills every month, and they are happy for my business.
Other than those two businesses that I avoid, everything is clean for the most part, and it's a great environment to hang out in. I like to sit over by Blaze and Wing Stop. There's a little water fountain playzone (mainly for the little ones,) and a nice breeze comes through the area more often than not. People are usually pretty nice and stay to themselves.
There is also a MASSIVE collection of Pokestops in that area, and someone almost always has a Lure Module going. Sometimes they get a Bermuda Triangle going, and there's so many Pokemon that you can hardly catch them all!
TL;DR: Nice place, pretty clean, people are happy. Mostly good businesses with decent/friendly workers. Lots of places to shop and eat. Great spot for Pokemon Go. Feels great that this is in my hometown, and in walking distance. I hang out there...
Read moreI have to strongly disagree with the respected review of Ms. Adral. I was actually being helped that day and the manager was working with 3 people at once including myself. So you can understand if one person is working with 3 people with 3 different situations, of course if you are overhearing or minding others conversations, you will hear them talk about other people’s information. What I saw was a manager who has built a relationship with her customers. The wait it took to receive a Daniel’s credit card did take some time, and what helped the time go by faster was her discussing her vacation she took and the food that she had. To support that, an elder gentleman entered the store laughing and joking about his money from his purchase is what the manager used for her vacation and was looking to buy something else! This store must be doing something right if people like this gentleman keep coming right back! In general, customers want to feel comfortable walking into a store; or at least I do! Like any job, talking about food and vacations are not inappropriate. It’s something we all have in common as humans and it was something that kept myself and others in the store intrigued and patient during our wait. That was what I considered in my opinion an “ice breaker” conversation. The personal stories the manager shares are professional yet also enjoyable! The young lady who I did hear watching a video on an iPad was very nice. I did have small conversation with her and she was watching training videos that the manager asked her to watch. Thank you Manager Betty for your amazing hard work! Thank you to the young lady who was speaking to me while I waited to be assisted. I highly encourage anyone who reads these reviews to please go and experience for yourself the amazing customer service! Do not read any review and prejudge. I feel that you can take it into consideration, but ultimately go see for yourself! You will get genuine wonderful customer service! Everyone is so nice, helpful, and all! It feels very welcoming in the store. Daniel’s in...
Read moreStaff helping me was great. Meanwhile other two female associates kept chatting it away about personal drama and playing videos on personal cellphone loudly. Not sure if the girl talking about food was the manager (Beatriz) but discussing clients approval or declined status outloud to each other is a serious NO. Specially in front of customers. Level of professionalism amongst staff needs to be taught. Clients don't need to know how your feeling or how people are not doing their job. That's something that should be taken up to management and away from customers attention. Alice was really helpful from the moment we stepped in to the store. Would love to thank Alice for such professional appearance...
