Overview: glad they are here, but paltry selection for women.
Pros: Given we have no tack stores or Western stores in Maine, this store gets an automatic 5-stars for filling a gap. I am thrilled this store is here.
Bathrooms are clean.
Staff is polite and not overbearing.
Cons: I have to remove a star unfortunately.
The women’s clothes run large so Xsmall and xxsmall become necessary. Those are rare in this store. Almost nothing was small enough for me, and I could stand to lose 15 pounds, and am not Asian. It’s also not a store for big girls. I would say if you are a medium or a large, this is a good store.
It’s summer and I was shopping wearing sandals. They didn’t have any try-on socks or footies. So I couldn’t try on any boots. Dead serious. Boot store with no try-on socks. For real. 🤔
I i didn’t see any changing rooms, so I pulled dresses and shirts on over my clothes. No one came around to help or talk to me. They were all chatting together up front. I am assuming there are maybe some changing rooms in the men’s department???
I needed the bathroom and found it, but it was locked. That’s okay, but because no one was working the back half of the store, I had to go track down and retrieve someone with a key to go to the bathroom.
The store is 2/3 men’s, and the remaining 1/3 is checkout, kids, bathrooms, and women’s. Basically it’s a men’s store, and women’s selection is minimal. Demographically, New England is not big on Western style, so horse owners and people who need work boots are probably a large portion of what will make or break this location, and they will probably gravitate to the non-bling Western wear that is actually wearable around here. In New England, horses owners are predominantly a female, where this store lacks. For female horse owners, this store doesn’t have enough rider-type jeans, wool socks, or work boots for women. I practically ran to get into this store when it opened, and I was shocked that I didn’t see even a single pair of Packer boots for women. (Packers are a historic western American hybrid work and stirrup boot, which also looks cute as hell with jeans or skirts).
I hope they survive, and I hope they figure out what sells. I am afraid for this store and I want to...
Read moreGood selection of western wear -- if you are a guy. For women, not so much. Most of the clothing is for men and is reasonably functional. The women's clothing seems to lean more to cos-play/tart use.
The dressing room had pretty significant dust bunnies. Not a huge deal, but it is a really new store and it seems like the worst place to show a little dust.
Fun story: my daughter and I went shopping for around $550 worth of clothing. She found a dumb trucker hat that she wanted to add to the order, but it had two very noticeable stains on the brim. She asked about getting a discount for the damaged goods. They offered 5%. In the face of a pile of full-priced items stacked on the counter. When pressed, one worker said she might be able to get us a 10% discount, but would have to get a manager. We laughed and just left the stupid, damaged hat behind.
I doubt we...
Read moreThe boots I ordered came in a bit too tight. On the website it have me the option to do an exchange in-store or they would charge me $20 for returning it by ups. The store told me they couldn't return but that they could do a return and a new purchase. That the funds would take 3-5 days to appear. That's fine, but then when I brought up my new boots they told me the discount code I used originally they couldn't reuse. They couldn't adjust the price and I would just have to pay the difference. Then when I asked for a box they said boots don't come with them but they could sell me one. I brought a box in with me when I first walked in, I asked for it back and they told me no, they needed it to send the other pair back. All in all a very frustrating and unprofessional experience. Won't be back and will recommend others stay...
