I live close to Dairy Queen so during the summer when it's open I enjoy an occasional ice cream. What I don't enjoy is rude staff and products not made correctly. The particular store I'm reviewing has a bunch of family members working together and as a result they stick up for one another but don't do anything to please the customer. I don't know that I've ever gotten an order correct without having to have it remade. If I ask for chocolate, I get vanilla. If I asked for hot fudge, I get strawberry topping. I thought I asked for a comb, I'll get it in a bowl or vice versa. Each time I go there I am very direct about the fact that I have a peanut allergy and I need the order prepare to take caution to not get any peanuts on my ice cream. On several occasions I have found knots underneath the whip cream and cherry on my sundae. It's one thing to mess up a flavor but when someone explicitly says I have an allergy to this so please be sure 2 not have it touch my order and then it ends up on the order, that's just carelessness with someone else's life. This DQ is a small store only open during the summer months and they don't have the food options like the larger Grill and Chill change of DQ have. You would think with such a limited menu and limited selection of ice cream flavors and preparation choices that they would not make as many mistakes as they do but they are too busy joking around and goofing around with one another to pay attention to getting...
Read moreGenerally, my past experiences have been good. On my latest visit, however, going through the drive thru, which I don't usually do, I received the wrong order. Instead of a peanut butter cup Blizzard with hot fudge, I received a small vanilla ice cream cup with hot fudge and rainbow sprinkles. I parked and went to return it; however, the order and wait lines were too long. I kept the ice cream and did not enjoy it. Oh, this was after spending almost $30 on a food order.
Update: Downgrading to 1 star. First, outdoor food ordering, typically opening at 6PM was closed because "it was raining" -- it wasn't. I was told to use the drive-thru, which was packed, at least 15 cars. Placed my order ($32), paid, received the food, pulled out and guess what? Missing a hot dog and a fry. I went to the closed door and knocked. A worker comes to the door, or at least I thought so, but no, she put something in the register and went back in. Totally avoiding me! Banged on the front window and the manager came out. She did bring me the missing items, but it took time and it was aggravating. One more strike DQ!
Upgrading based on a recent visit. No lines. Food was...
Read moreThe amount of ice cream VS. what you pay for is ridiculous. We ordered 2 small chocolate cups and 1 chocolate cone...the total came to $8.xx. Now think about this - a gallon of whole milk cost between $3-4 anywhere. How much soft serve ice cream do you think you can make with a gallon of whole milk?...A LOT. Well my chocolate cone was so bare that the ice cream didn't even touch the outer rim of the cone. My wife's chocolate cup (which she ordered with cake crunches) had barely enough topping to think you were getting a dash of pepper on top. And my sons chocolate cup serving was definitely not worth the $2.xx they charged for it. This is our local ice cream shop and I've experienced this same kind of service repeatedly, to the point where I felt like I had to share my experience on here. Safe to say that I feel ripped off and have no...
