I booked an appointment for a manicure since I was having an engagement shoot the next day. The booking process was simple and easy, as long as you could remember what type of manicure you wanted.
My appointment was with Iliana, and it started off pretty simple. I walked in and the person who greeted me told me to choose a nail color from only the glass jars (even though it seemed like all of them were glass, nothing was labeled as such). After picking the color I wanted, I sat in the chair I was told to sit in.
I waited a bit but was also early so that was understandable. The manicure eventually started, and I was asked a few questions. Iliana was a little hard to understand, but nothing I couldn't ask for more clarity on. She went ahead and clipped and filed my nails, and then soaked each hand after. I did appreciate the nice hand and wrist massage. That was the highlight of my experience.
She then began trimming my cuticles, which unfortunately is where the session went downhill. After trimming the cuticles on my right index finger, it started to bleed. She went along and continued with the other fingers, periodically trying to get the bleeding to stop. She even got as far as applying the polish and top coat, and my finger was still bleeding.
Every time she tried to stop the bleeding, she would rub my finger which in turn would cause it to bleed again. I swear I was sitting there for a good 5-10 minutes just watching her trying to make it stop. While I do appreciate her efforts, she applied so much alcohol and even some top coat over the wound, which I don't think was appropriate or sanitary.
I eventually asked if I could have all of the polish removed off the other nails, since I didn't want 9 of my 10 fingers painted and was honestly ready to leave at that point. After the polish was removed, I was brought to the front (where I finally received a band-aid for the wound). The manager said they were sorry and that I could come back in a few days to have it "done right". They did not charge me for this manicure (which I appreciate), and while I appreciate the sentiment to have them try again, I don't plan on returning to this salon for any services. Iliana worked way too quickly, and I'm now realizing that 25 minutes for a manicure seems way to short for what is necessary.
I understand this may have been bad luck, but my suggestion to the salon is to slow down and make sure your technicians are providing a quality service with extreme care and attention to detail. I felt like a number and felt rushed through the...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI really really wanted to like it, I tried my best. I think the tech was nice and kind but completely inexperienced. I went for a gel fill, my nail beds were not prepared at all, cuticles were not done even though I even reminded her to do them before she started putting gel on. I wont even comment on the quality of the nails, I wish it wasn't so dark in there and I could see them in the daylight, I would not have left. I can do a better job at home and sadly I am embarassed to go to the office with hands like this š¤¦āāļø I cant believe I paid $40 for this. To compare, my previous nails I did for $50 by an experienced professional. I gave up on finding a professional salon in CT that has nail technicians who know what they're doing. Im back to learning and doing it at home, Im done with feeling this disappointment every time I go somewhere to get my nails done š«„ And I apologize to the nail tech for the negative review, it was dark in there and I left thinking this was acceptable work, but the moment I got into the car I realized it is not. :(
In addition, the conditions were not hygenic. The tech used a nail file that was not new, when I asked for her not to use the electric file, she went to ask for a brand new nail file to use on my nails. The uv lamp was so dirty that i felt like i wanted to wash my hands every time I took my hand out. It hasnt been wiped in a long time. There is absolutely 0 ventilation in the room where they do gels and acrylics.
Update 1 day later - took a bath and nails started breaking and peeling. This is ridiculous, and I cant believe its legal here in the US to charge people for such terrible nail service.
Attached are photos of nails made by this salon (the black glitter) vs a real nail professional (dark short nails, marble nail extensions). The difference is comical!! Stop charging people for work that is below mediocre and DANGEROUS to the health of...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreIāve been going back and forth on leaving a review as I only came here once about a year ago. After talking to someone who also had a similar experience, I decided to leave my review. It was easy to book a manicure appointment and this is not something I do regularly at all, so I was really excited! Customer service from the front desk staff was great and gift shop area is super cute. Unfortunately, my manicurist had a bit of an attitude the entire time I was there. She seemed inconvenienced to have a client and repeatedly stepped away to text or make phone calls. I was a bit surprised by that, but I also work in the service industry and figured maybe she had an emergency or something. The spot itself was where they do the work so it was tough to see the quality, and as I said, I donāt often get manicures so I was unsure on what was ānormalā for the service. The technician whipped through the service really quickly, and when I left, I immediately noticed that the quality of my nails was really poor. I can do my own nails competently at home, which is why I donāt usually pay for this, but they were bulky and uneven. The sides of my nails were also not painted and showed large gaps. I got a simple French manicure. I was definitely embarrassed at work the next day as everyone else generally has really nice nails. After a day, they started shipping and I removed the gel polish myself at home. Unfortunately wonāt be going back to...
