I had an (UN)shockingly terrible experience at Brandy Melville that left me feeling violated and discriminated against. When I went to try on clothes, I was singled out for their ridiculous no outside bag policy, which they conveniently didn't enforce on any of the other white customers in the store. To add insult to injury, while I was in the dressing room, I CAUGHT THEM searching through my bag without my permission. I literally CANT MAKE THIS UP!!
When I confronted the staff member about why they were searching my belongings, she stumbled over some excuse about seeing clothes in my bag and then muttered something about "oh… you know." No, I don't know!?! It's beyond inappropriate to invade someone's privacy like that without any valid reason. I expressed my shock and disbelief, but instead of apologizing, she just stood there in silence.
This whole ordeal was not only humiliating but also blatantly discriminatory. It's clear that I was targeted because of how I look — clearly Hispanic, dark-skinned, with dark curly hair. Her actions were not just unprofessional but literally outright racist. And let's be clear, it's not like she caught me stuffing my bag and stealing. This was a baseless invasion of my privacy and dignity!!!! The AUDACITY??? What a pathetic excuse of a person.
Moreover, her insinuation with the phrase "you know" suggests a prejudiced assumption that I could NEVER have items from other stores in my bag (and that I “HAD” to be stealing to have items in my bag?) — which is something completely normal and not against any store policy? Why would I not have items from other stores in my bag at a SHOPPING CENTER???? It's painfully obvious that her actions were racially targeted. She’s disgusting.
Sadly, at the end of the day, writing a bad review probably won't do much. She will likely still have her job and suffer no consequences for her discriminatory behavior. However, I did not want to stay silent about such blatant injustice. I will never set foot in that store again, and I urge anyone who values their dignity and privacy to avoid this Brandy Melville...
Read morethe brand has garnered a reputation for being inclusive with its sizing; however, the employees here were notably friendlier than those at other locations i’ve visited. i went on a monday, so the store wasn’t particularly busy, and it was surprisingly spacious compared to the store in houston. the atmosphere is pleasant, with a nice scent that is consistent across their locations. the pricing is quite reasonable, especially considering that most items are made from 100% cotton.
i didn’t feel racially profiled at all—everyone seemed to be minding their own business, which contributed to a comfortable shopping experience. the staff greeted me warmly upon my arrival, particularly given the lack of crowds. the fitting room took several minutes to access due to the limited number of dressing rooms available. while there are parking lots designated for individuals with disabilities, i wouldn’t recommend it for those with mobility challenges, as the interior can feel quite cramped.
the selection was somewhat limited, with several items available that you could find on their website and app. however, i found a few unique pieces that caught my eye, particularly the casual tops and comfortable loungewear. the organization of the store was better than at other locations, making it easier to browse. if you’re curious about the return policy, it appears to be straightforward, making it easy to return items if needed.
the checkout process was efficient, and the staff was helpful during that time as well. it’s worth noting that the customer demographic seemed to lean towards younger shoppers, primarily tall, thin, white individuals, which can create a sense of exclusivity. overall, i had a positive experience, and while i would recommend visiting, it would be beneficial to see more fitting rooms available to better accommodate shoppers. for the best experience, i suggest visiting during off-peak hours, as the atmosphere is more relaxed, allowing for a more enjoyable...
Read moreHorrible Customer Service - very unfriendly staff! They do not greet you when you enter the store. Never once were we asked if we needed anything or if we needed assistance. They were more concerned with getting stock put out. Once we checked out with Ella she gave the worst checkout experience. This girl has zero personality and does not know how to work with the public. When one of the tops my daughter selected didn’t have a price tag she looked at her and said this. Do you know where you got this there is no price tag! Will you go get another one?! My daughter is young almost 14 and politely let her know she would get her another one. Well, guess what that one didn’t have a tag either. Your employee seemed bothered by this. Like it’s the customers job to solve her price tag situation!!?? Truly unreal…under her breath she said she would now have to key it in to get a price! When my daughter offered to take back the top, I said no you don’t work here she does and can figure it out. There were about 7 other girls just hanging around chilling in the back register area. BM corporate this store needs training, it starts with your leadership. I understand all these girls are very young, but you can tell they have not...
