So technology means a lot these days. From our phones, laptops, and everything beyond. I have used NHT staff to help with my laptop on several occasions. This particular instance was my external hard drive. I use it for backup but also for tons of data and files. I was using it just like I normally do and it decided to CRASH - said NO FILES ON THE DRIVE! Though I didn't really need everything on the drive, I desperately wanted the pictures of my dad from the last few years because he passed away in August. I panicked a bit and called Jason and Brian. I took my hard drive over and though they didn't guarantee they could get my files back, I knew Brian would do his best to help me out. Throughout the process, Brian kept in communication with me about the process and how long it was taking. At the end of the time my hard drive spent with them, Brian recovered most, if not all, of my data and files! I initially took my non-functioning PC to Best Buy in Rapid to have the Geek Squad look at it, diagnose the problem, and, if my PC was shot, then buy a new one there. Which I didn't want to do because of cost and time lost. The Geek Squad told me my motherboard was bad and the cost to replace it would be the same as a new computer.

I got a 2nd opinion from Brian (Northern Hills also sells PCs), who told me the motherboard was fine -- it only had a bad battery and my power supply was failing. He fixed those things and also solved other vexing problems I had due to my previous very complicated set-up. Now I'm up and running for the next 4-5 years, at a fraction of the cost of a new computer.

Moral of the story: If you have a real problem with your PC, skip the Geek Squad and go to Northern...
