I can honestly tell you I went here years ago and it worked wonderfully. I worked out 6 to 7 days a week. I lost 167 pounds 😱 in 2 yrs .. ((oh yeah, I was the TITANIC! )) I WAS VERY PROUD OF MYSELF. I worked tirelessly and outlasted all of my 'slender' friends - who after three years were gone. At the time I have a blue-eyed Angel who became more less a trainer for me and I was on the verge of taking my own life. I couldn't deal with the weight problem anymore. And my sister said, " what do you think someone's going to come out and take you by the hand.." 😜 that's exactly what he did! He was the manager at the time - he came out and took me in and gave me a tour. I changed my life and my attitude. Unfortunately I've undergone three surgeries and a lot of depression and I have some ham put back on 80 lbs. I think overeating and sometimes hiding and not doing exercise and going out as much is just a problem of the perhaps being depressed or feeling not good enough that I had since I was a child. I remember sitting on the bench outside in the little plaza and this beautiful guy was walking towards me and I thought he was going to ask me for the time. I said, to myself, " God please don't let this man look at me. Don't let him see me. I'm so ashamed, I just want to be off of people's radar cuz the whole time people talk to me all I'm doing is feeling how unworthy I am." I actually said to God about 8 minutes before he came out of that building that I was going to contemplate taking my own life. That's how depressed and hopeless and frustrated I was with my weight. Thank the stars above that this guy was very kind to me because I felt so alone and so introverted so unlike who I actually had been when I was thin I had spent twenty years fat and I just lost myself during that time it's unbelievable how to press some people become and how lonely or angry you become.
I worked out so vigorously then watch I can't do now cuz now I'm 65, my heart rate was 167 on those machines I kept saying to myself. " I don't care if it goes to 300, either I'm going to lose this weight and get back my life defeating this demon called gluttony, or I'm going to keel over on this machine. If you're out there and you need to take off the pounds don't be afraid to go in cuz that's what they're there for just exercised put on your music and just keep your eye on the goal of being a lot thinner and a lot healthier and that's all you can do is people. Never allow anyone's opinion to stop you from doing what you need to do. So they were really good for me at the time and even though I never really had a trainer did teach me a valuable lesson eating 25 carbs per meal and no more plus exercising everyday did get my way down. And I used to cheat on the weekends because I would go up to Giant which was then Gernardis food market and get myself a big pudding cup in the clear little containers that they made fresh with some cake they put inside and I would eat that every Saturday but six days a week I eat low-carb and worked out. This time fortunately I'm going to a diet doctor to get appetite suppressants and hopefully I could at least lose enough weight to respect myself and feel happy cuz man, when you are overweight most people do not feel good...
Read moreI went into the Springfield, PA location today to use a 2 week guest pass. I called before going in, and was re-assured there would be no problems using this upon arrival.
As I drove out of my way to the location, I was then:
Pressured by the sales person once again to consider a membership, even though I provided details that I would not be in the area 3 weeks from now.
After the sales person realized I would not be in the area/purchasing a membership right now, she did not seem so inclined into providing the usual levels of customer service, and her attitude turned to disinterested and rude.
After entering my drivers’ license number, told me I could not use the guest pass (remind you: I called previously to make sure I COULD use it, and was assured there would be no problems) because I was someone else’s guest 2 months ago at another LA fitness location. I NEVER USED A GUEST PASS MYSELF; I was only someone’s guest who had a membership option that offered unlimited guests, so I am confused as to how this would affect me from using a guest pass. I was then told my options were to pay $15.00 to use the gym that day, or $70.00 for a month, which is ridiculous if I am only in town 3 weeks.
Left annoyed, disappointed with the customer service, and the sales manager did not seem to care about making me happy in the slightest.
I will not be using these gym facilities in the future. It is disappointing, as I used to be a member of the gym. The sales person (who I think is the manager of the location) was rude, pressuring, and only concerned with me becoming a member that day. I have worked in Sales in the past, and you should really take into account that even if a customer may not be a member today, he/she may be considering the gym a year from now, and does not want to have a negative view of your customer service. A future sale is still a sale, and being considered only in today’s sales goals is clear to the customer and not a good sight in his/her eyes.
Would it have been that difficult for your manager to grant me the guest pass under the circumstances, or at least let me work out that day? They clearly do not value the customer, which is sad as fitness is a people field.
I would suggest looking into another facility with less pushy sales people. There are other similar gyms in the area, and when I move back, I will be sure to give one of those my money. There is nothing that makes this gym stand apart from others in regards to the facility, and the customer service brings my rating down to 1 star (and I am not one that gives any...
Read moreI started going to LA Fitness in February 2015. I let the associates know that I did not want to be in a contract with anything and also I need a personal trainer.they let me know there's no contract for membership and they set me up with a trainer. going forward towards the spring I was unable to make a couple months of training so I was saying to myself "why pay for something that you're not going to use" so I called up and said I would like to cancel my training sessions for two months. they let me know that I was in contract ( the thing I told them I didn't want to be in ) and had to buy out the rest of the years worth of payments. I wasn't able to afford to pay it out so I had to pay essentially $300 a month for training I wasn't using. later on in the year I was able to pay the buyout but then upon trying to I was given the run around and it was like I wasn't allowed to the money had to go elsewhere and I was still stuck paying that 300 A month. then a couple months ago I changed my card information and my pay information and they still took it out of the old account which allowed it to go in the negative. there is no corporate number on the site and if you ask for a contact number on the site it just redirects you back to the local branch which always gives you the run around or you run into somebody that doesn't know what they're doing. You have to dig and dig and dig to find a person that actually knows what they're doing but then come to find out they don't even want to help you or give you good customer service. They just want to tell you how much you would have to pay for the buyout if you don't want your services anymore. I'm in retail and yes we get those annoying customers that want to bring in expired coupons and return used items so i know how it is when somebody tries to get over on the company, but damn I've given you almost $ 3000 and I can't find anyone to help me? do not invest your money...
