I had only been to a Chipotle once before this trip to the Springfield Pa location. That was a couple years before in Englewood NJ and the gastric after effects were quite unpleasant. so it was with trepidation that I sought out the advertised Beef Brisket Bowl here in Springfield, Pa. No drive thru, and for good reason. Chipotle offers the close up and personal experience as the staff assembles the goods right in front of you . As it turned out, they had "discontinued" the brisket - the signs are still up right over the counter, but "Sorry Charlie", I was left with their regular steak, chicken or vegan options.
I chose the steak bowl, after being impressed by the amount piled onto the rice base for the customer before me. You have a choice between white or brown rice, or no rice because all options are up to you. The commercials show the grill action but that is not made per order - it's more like Boston Market with tubs of product lined up. When I came through, there wasn't any active. cooking. In fact there was only one person in front of me at 5pm Thursday Nov 18, 2021. There was a staffer chopping the steak I assumed just came from the grill, and the fixings looked fresh and ready to go. I chose half and half white/brown on the rice and went light on the black beans, which may have been where I went wrong getting a hefty dose of them in Jersey before. They have a decent salsa topping - diced tomato, onion and peppers - very "clean" - no soupy goop. I also chose a sprinkling of corn with parsley(?) mixed in, and cold shredded mozzarella(?) cheese, which she generously smothered the whole deal with. Next time I might opton for the cheese to be directly on the meat, but this way was fine too. No nuking to melt the cheese. it was a 30 minute drive home on a chilly autumn evening so some warmup was in the cards anyway. What is exceptional is the creamy queso, which I optioned in a condiment cup on the side, as I did the quite fetching looking guacamole. The guac was nice and just chunky enough. I prefer not to have it glommed together in the bowl. As it is, she had to kind of mash the foil lid down to get it to stay on the heap of the bowl. You're parting with just shy of 10 bucks (9.50) for the base product. Following the lead of the customer before me I added a small yet decent portion of their house chips, in their own little brown bag, and the chips turned out to be of very good quality. Tortilla chips are my thing and these are thin and crispy like the On the Border or Chilis style. The small chips were listed as a buck seventy. The side of guac and queso add ons were steep at 2.50 each, so with 98 cents tax, I got out of there lighter in the pockets by $17.18.
That stretch of Baltimore Pike has just about every fast food and sit down dining option one would reasonably want. There's a Chick-fil-A right, and mean RIGHT next door. I got stuck in the CFA drive thru line when I had initially missed the Chipotle entrance immediately after I left turned it off westbound Baltimore onto a side street. I entered the shopping area that also houses a Target. No biggie - the CFA line turns left but you can instead go straight and get back with a right onto Baltimore eastbound, then right again into the snug Chipotle lot. You can exit directly into Baltimore Pike east bound but if you want to go west bound on Baltimore, it will take some manuvering. Both exits are right turn only so... well, you'll figure it out. You pay for it, but it's worth it. I only ate about half so unless you have the appetite to plow through the whole deal, this can be polished off for lunch the next day. I see some bad reviews here, and I guess certai. staffers can affect the whole experience. I was fortunate to hit a sweet spot because I have no complaints at all. They have burritos and other options, enough for me to wonder why I ever would want to go back to...
Read moreI’ve visited this place 2 times, in all the years that it’s been in the area, and needless to say, I have not been missing out on anything. When I order food from other locations, I normally do so via the app, and being as there’s no way to purchase vinaigrette on the app, I normally ask for vinaigrette on the line where you are to place your name. My family orders from Chipotle multiple times a Month, and for the most part our orders stay the same, so I just add our recent order to the bag via the app and check out. Here’s where things went left at this location, on the 1st visit, the young lady that was handling my order says in a very matter of fact/confrontational tone you have to pay for the vinaigrette, it’s almost as if she was expecting me to challenge her on it. I looked at her, and kindly said ok. At the time of me picking up my order, it was a rush, so I most certainly was not going to stand in line to pay for the vinaigrette, that would defeat the purpose of me ordering ahead. After some time went by, I said to the young lady, can you have the cashier ring me up for the vinaigrette, and that was it for that visit. I absolutely positively had no intentions of visiting this location again, as the atmosphere was not welcoming. The demeanor and attitudes of the employees I came in contact with wasn’t the greatest, there was no hot sauce on the condiment bar amongst other things, however when I went to place my family’s order this evening, I failed to realize that I needed to change the location for pickup, as the app auto save the last visited location. I was MAD! This visit was slightly better, at least I thought it was, that was until I got home removed the items from my bag, to find a childish note written on a napkin, explaining that “putting vinaigrette please as your name does not guarantee a portion of vinaigrette” ARE YOU SERIOUS! All the employee had to do, was “politely” let me know I needed to pay, instead of playing passive aggressive games! In the last week or so, I’ve spent $70 at this location; I won’t...
Read moreTerrible service and no food. I came in to order food. The line is out the door, and they're moving at a so-so pace. They had no corn, no pinto beans, and barely any chicken. This was 7:30 at night. And the staffs response was we're out of it, not that we can put out or make more. Then after waiting almost 20 minutes in line, and the girls ready to take my order, the line guy stops her and goes. You need to finish this order, because he was tired of staring at the mess he's been making as he's finishing the food. The line is even longer at this point and you're going to hold up the line even more, because you're tired of your own mess. At that point the food wasn't even worth it. This is not the first time I've experienced this type of thing here. If you're open until 10 making more of something or putting another batch out that you probably have in your walk in isn't going to hurt anybody. If your staff decides to be that lazy then maybe you should not have said staff.
I will say this much out of all of the staff there. The young lady was the only one trying. She called out to the guy in the back multiple times for mor beans and he ignored her, before finally telling her no. 2 people behind the register too busy carrying on as one guy looked like he was off the clock holding his shoes by...
