Sakura - Japanese Groceries & Gifts — Local services in Stockton

Sakura is the only Japanese store in Stockton and I've been coming here for many years since I was in high school. So many imported products from Japan and one of the things I loved the most is the variety of Asian snacks. I like trying different snacks and by far, the Calbee brand snack is my favorite! They have a variety of food products, tableware, kitchen items, and even fresh fish like Salmon. They used to sell freshly made California Roll or sushi that's packaged and placed near the cash register. Due to COVID, they no longer have fresh sushi for sale and was a bit sad about it. But overall, that staff are always super nice and helpful to customers if they needed assistance. So customers are required to wear masks prior to entering the store and they constantly keep everything sanitized and clean including the pens used to sign for the purchase if you use a credit card. I feel that Sakura's staff did a great job and I will continue to come back to the store for more...

A very clean and well-organized small Japanese market. They have almost everything you need, and the prices are reasonable. The kimbap and lunch boxes were fresh, tasty, and affordable. I’m happy I found this place and will definitely return

Full Review: This is a very small Japanese grocery store, but it has almost everything you might need for daily shopping. The store is extremely clean and well organized — just what you would expect from a good Japanese market.

I ordered a few items like kimbap and lunch boxes for lunch. They not only looked neat and fresh, but also tasted clean and delicious. Considering the quality, the prices were quite reasonable, even cheaper than expected for some items. Other groceries were also similarly priced or cheaper than larger markets.

We have shopped here for several years and found most everything we wanted or needed in the way of Japanese food items. Specialty items around the New Year holiday period, daily fresh makisushi,inarisushi lunch, appliances (rice cookers etc),fresh tuna for sashimi,kazunoko etc. variety of Japanese beverages both soft and hard, beer, sake, wine, ramune. Large variety of snacks and candies. as well as fresh root products; daikon, gobo etc. The owner and employees are always cordial, friendly and willing to assist with locating products or explaining products which you may have encountered for the first time.
