This store doesn’t have as much of a variety as they claim and the staff are rude (especially during covid) and their fudge is low quality and overpriced and they sell them by bricks. (Who eats that much especially if one flavor?) The owner does not know how to manage his staff, especially management. An thin old lady who is a manager (dyes her hair a Sandy Blonde) discriminates against children with Autism. My son wasn’t the only child on the spectrum that she bullied throughout the store. (Of course I told her off, but shouldn’t have to) The owner of the store unfortunately owns the village as well so he doesn’t care about people boycotting Franklin’s General Store. It can be fine for tourists on their first visit, but the locals know better than to waste their time and money on a store who treats children with disabilities like they’re incompetent and doing something wrong just by being themselves. She is WAY out of line to even try speaking directly to someone’s child when the parent is right there to redirect them. I for one, let her know that. The owner needs to change the staff or business will...
Read moreMy daughter and i drove east via Rt 2 E from West Hartford to Mystic to catch a glimpse of the fading foliage in late fall of 2022. My daughter wanted to see the old Mystic that she visited a number of times before with her class, from Webster Hill elementary to middle school to Saint Joseph College. I was there once, a long forgotten time ago. So it was as good as my first visit. Old Mystic contained so many quaint stores that carried so many products with so many themes that harked to different time periods. We spent most of our time at Franklin's General Store because we could finally find Connecticut produced items there that we could send to the Japanese family that adopted my daughter for the three years she spent teaching in Japan. We found everything Connecticut that we needed to send to our friends in Japan who couldn't be impressed with anything less that's made anywhere else. My daughter says we should move to Mystic. My mistake i say! I introduced her...
Read moreWent to Mystic Village today and went into Franklin Store. Had my small dog in a stroller. Did not see a sign that said no dogs allowed. I was there no more than 2 minutes when a woman came from out of nowhere and told me NO DOGS ALLOWED and that I had to leave immediately. I had gone there to purchase a car sticker for Vietnam Veteran (my husband has recently passed away) and I was going to just buy that. I asked her if I could at least pay for my purchase, she hesitated for a moment, and then said yes, but you have to leave immediately. I went directly to the register , and she followed me and said to the cashier, “She’s paying for that and then immediately leaving the store “. And said it very loudly. I felt like a criminal. I know I have to abide by their rules, but she could have said it nicely. Needless to say, I won’t be shopping here in the...
