We went several times when it was the bleu squid and it because our go to for breakfast when we went to Mystic.
However, after this last visit I don’t think that will be the case. It was a busy holiday weekend so I’m not sure if it was just bad timing but the inside was packed so we were told we could order “to go” and eat outside on the porch. That was fine, but meanwhile we typically spend our breakfasts while on vacation planning our day and while this place has WiFi, they declined to give us the password when we asked and they are situated in a dead zone for cellular coverage. I don’t recall ever having an issue here in the past. It’s 2024 and a restaurant that is marketing itself as a cocktail spot doesn’t offer WiFi? It was just strange.
Then, while our food was ready within a reasonable amount of time, because it was to go, we ate our eggs Benedict out of a cardboard box. Not the end of the world, but with so many other good breakfast and brunch places in town with better atmosphere and WiFi I don’t think we’ll come back to this one. If you want a cocktail, Jealous Monk is right there and is a great place for that. I’m not sure what they were going for with this rebrand as it’s certainly not a place...
Read moreI was traveling on I-95N for the holidays and me and my family decided to stop for breakfast. I found this spot doing a Google search and saw it had great reviews. It did not disappoint! Cute spot and coming in we were welcomed with yummy desserts at the front. We got seated quickly, which I appreciated because we were making good time in the road. I didn’t want our stop to set us back too much. The service was phenomenal! I was asking about the fresh cold pressed juices and couldn’t decide, so without me even asking the server brought samples out for me. I ended up asking if they could tweak one of the juices by adding ginger and they were happy to accommodate me. For food we got pancakes, an omelet and veggie burger. We all enjoyed our food…large portions, tasty and served quickly. TIP: If you go here you have to try the roasted sweet potatoes! Best I’ve ever had! If I had to offer one suggestion it would be to have more vegan options on the menu.
On the way out we purchased a few items from the bakery to take with us. Everything was amazing! We would definitely go back. In fact my son has already asked if we can stop there when we...
Read moreWe stopped here for breakfast around 9. It opens earlier than the shops around it and has a nice selection of breakfast items. Restaurant was very clean and bright. We were first to arrive but it gradually fills as you get closer to the rest of the shops opening. Staff was friendly and checked on us regularly. Food was very good and I would say the quality is more towards the higher end than what you might find at a diner. I had the crab omelet and it was good but not quite as good as Kitchen Little but the meal as a whole was elevated by believe it or not the potatoes. They were dry well seasoned and just a nice savoury taste to go with the omelette. Now my son (early 20’s)had the corned beef benny and he preferred this version over Kitchen Little. Specifically the way it was prepared and how the egg and hash were cooked. If you plan on visiting the village go early and have breakfast. You will not be disappointed plus you get really great parking spots before...
