One of the best rec center I've belonged to on the West Side of Cleveland! Strongsville recreation center is huge in comparison to many smaller red centers I've seen or tried. Conveniently located near the center of Town, near many outdoor playgrounds, baseball fields, community library, and even minutes from the great Cleveland Metroparks parkway with tons of outside activities, including the only Toboggan chutes and Chalet complex in NE Ohio, huge Ice skating and Hockey arena, and summer camp grounds Camp Cheerful located also in the Metroparks.
The rec center itself spans over three vast floors of workout areas, from the bottom sections for bodybuilding and swimming to the top level with running track, treadmills, exercise bikes and machines, group exercise rooms and yoga studio. Olympic sized swimming pool next to series of smaller pools, to a big pirate ship slide inside of the kiddie pool. Locker rooms, showers and family changing rooms are on each floor, with even more lockers lining hallways and near each equipment room so no one ever needs to look for an empty locker for more than 3 seconds. Very clean areas, free personal wipe towels during workouts are restocked all day, all newly upgraded equipment throughout as of summer & fall 2016, and very friendly staff.
Absolutely no other reasons for my family to belong to another gym while we live in Strongsville. Residents receive a huge resident discount with their membership and a free month with each...
Read moreMy review only applies to the swimming pool and swim lessons especially for kids. First off, I must mention that it is 6:30pm right now, I am sitting right outside the pool area and there is no "what I consider a mature adult" around the pool. The supervisor is gone and bunch of teenagers are lifeguarding the pool. There are also a bunch of kids in the pool. Not a good sign. Kids swim lessons at this facility are nothing of quality. There are overly crowded. The last couple times I brought my four year old for a swim lesson she was waiting at the edge of the pool for 25 minutes of a 30 minute class just so that she would have a chance to swim with the coach twice for a total of less than five minutes. Coaches are mostly young with no experience in teaching and working with kids. As a certified swim instructor myself and also a mom whose kids have been swimming since they were 6 months old at various locations and with various swim coaches I have never seen coaches so young and inexperienced before. Lastly, for the sake of your child and all the love you have for her/him PLEASE stay away from working with Courtney as a swim coach. I was advised the same from a few parents, which I ignored, and I...
Read moreI signed up for 3 months, and when I went to renew today, they asked for a utility bill. When I signed up for the first 3 months, I was still in the computer from previous, so I didn't need it. I don't carry my utility bills with me. If you sign up for a year, are they asking for proof of residency every quarter?? NOT. And yet that person may move 1 month after signing up. But that's ok. Is everyone bringing in their utility bill every year when they renew?? Doubtful if they have been going there for a while. Why would I lie about my residency? If you pay quarterly, you are penalized and inconvenienced. Makes ZERO SENSE. IM NOT GOING BACK. This is the second time I've tried the rec center bc I want to use the pool. It just shouldn't be this difficult. They need a better way. The lady at the desk said it's how their system works. For the amount of taxes I pay in Strongsville for a six-figure income, owning a home, AND PAYING FOR MEMBERSHIP, they should have a better computer system. Are the "employees" volunteers also??? Residency is a public record and easy to look up. Link it to the system. I should have known when I emailed 2 different people about their workout programs and NEVER...
