Cornucopia Kitchen Shop is one of the very best kitchen stores I've ever been in, and I've been in quite a few. This store beats, handily, kitchen stores I've been to in far bigger cities and shopping malls. Absolutely first rate, with an incredible amount of products.
I remember seeing this shop while looking out the window of the Inn at Cedar Crossing, and thinking to myself "I really need to check that place out!" So I did, as it's now my absolute favorite store in all of Door County.
First of all, this is a GOURMET kitchen shop, stocked with the best brands you will find for the person who LOVES to cook. They have All-Clad, Le Creuset, Wusthoff, Kyocera, Shun, among a host of others. I was very happy to see Teakhaus cutting boards in stock, which are my personal favorites, and a brand I've never seen in any other kitchen store I've been to.
The top-notch brands also means that these items are expensive, very expensive. This is not a store for the budget minded shopper, unless you realize that most of the stuff they stock will outlast you, in terms of it's quality and durability. If you just want to buy a thing ONCE, and use it for the rest of your life, the prices start making sense. But you really need to know your brands, and what something like an All-Clad pan or a Shun knife is going to bring you in terms of an edge in the kitchen. The quality kitchen brands really do make quite a difference, and really bring a lot of joy into the process of food preparation.
For instance: the last wood cutting board I bought at Wal-Mart didn't last me a year before it started cracking and splitting. But a Teakhaus cutting board will outlast me, and probably even outlast my children.
The selection of gadgets and gizmos in Cornucopia is just first rate. They have just about everything you could want for a top-notch home kitchen. Those who love to cook and bake will really enjoy this place, as they have it all.
For the average home cook, this place is overkill. But for those who really love to cook, and are looking for the kind of products that really give you an upper hand in the kitchen, Cornucopia is a gold mind! It's very much on the level with a Sur La Table or Williams-Sonoma type of store.
I cannot sing their praises enough. This will certainly be a must-stop shop every time I come back to Door County.
