Warning Do not sign a Personal Trainer Contract! Understand I was eager to start working out and losing the weight I was in good position to have a personal trainer. They told me i would get nutrition and advice for the most part you can get that but you have to ask them and maybe you will get it. This is the bad part. I signed a one year contract that has been the bane of my existence. They pump you up and get you excited about training then they take you to a computer where you fill out a "Contract". When you "Fill" this out the person is reading it to you off of their computer screen facing them. Then when they have you sign electronically they show you a screen that is blank and you sign using a electronic pen pad and they put that signature into that "section". You do not really know all the sub text which is horrible. So i signed up for the 4 sessions a month for $160 some may call that good but Ive found it overpriced. It was fine for the first three months cause i was making ok pay. But as we know recently the Oil industry has taken a dive and I was laid off due to the economy. So that left me Broke on Unemployment that was only 75 a week because it was based off of the year before when i was in college and i didnt make much that year. And this left me desperate and I went to the club to reason with them to cancel my training and membership and was told that i can't i signed a one year contract and if i wanted to cancel it would be around a fee of some $900 Dollars. I know if you sign a contract you get "cheaper" sessions(not really). Why could they not just cancel it and let me go on my way. Honestly they are telling me that i have to pay for sessions not used months from now that are actually worthless because they haven't happened yet? Its maddening! Well I pleaded with them that day cause i couldn't make the payments coming ever closer. They told me well they can't overcharge my account if i have that protection which I did at my bank so they said i had to not have $160 in my account when the billing time came around but when i have enough they would automatically charge that when they tried again. Folks these are the worst bill collectors in the world i had to keep my phone unpluged cause it was constant. They badgered me for money for so long. Finally I got a job and got up on my payments and am still training today but there is no way out and i really mean that. I read the contract and I "signed" a provision that If i change bank accounts they can call my bank and start drawing from that new account without my permission. I am able to make payments easy again but i want out because i do not feel it necessary to give up my money to such a Mafia organization. These people will seek to have you homeless before they see you stop paying them. As of right now I cannot move away from my parents house until this gym bill can be dropped they are putting a hold on my life and they will do it to you and they will give you no mercy. If anything is good about them the trainers are very good but they have no dealings with the contract. Pretty soon I may turn to an attorney to fight this contract its that bad. Please learn from my mistake. The gym is nice and the employees friendly. The gym price is not bad but DO NOT SIGN A CONTRACT! I hope this helps some of...
Read moreIf I could I would give zero stars, it is not just the location, but my overall experience with LA Fitness brand…. First I was a member of LA Fitness when I was living in Houston and I was paying a higer fee to be able to use any LA Fitness nationwide but for work reson I moved to Virginia and when I started to go there, they started to charge me $10 per visit for out of state fee, when I inquired they told me O you have statewide membership not nationwide which was a flat lie I confirmed with the agent when I was signing for the membership…. But the club, customer service and corporate give me hardtime to cancel membership, even eventually I had to call my credit card company and requested them to block the payments to LA Fitness.
Again returing back to Texas I moved to rosenberg area and there were not a lot choices to choose for the gym so unwantedly I signed up for membership at this location… I could not use for 2 to 3 months and I taught it would be better to make my wife primary member and cancel my membership so if I want to use the gym I can go with my wife so I went to the gym and asked them if I can do that… the lady helping me explianed me that let her sign up my wife fir membership and then she will cancel mine, after she signed up my wife I asked if she could also cancel mine. She said oh no you have to go online and print a form and send it to corporate. I was shocked that why in the world you have to make that process so difficult if I could sign up for a membership in secs why are you guys not able to cancel membership on customer request, things get escalated from there the lady involed her boss on phone because he was off and he started to yell at me telling me that you should not yell. Did not let me speak and let me ask a simple question. This idea for the resolution was that come in Monday when the operation manager is there or download a form and send it to corporate and don’t try to ask questions or speak first my rights itherwise he is going to cancel mine and my wife’s membership because we don’t deserve to be a member of the LA Fitness. Literally I don’t want to deal with these guys who don’t even have ethics of talking to a customer to whom’s money they are enjoying their jobs, but literally I don’t have much choices closer to my home and unfortunately I have to stick to them. Welcome to corporate America where consumers have no rights they just have to soend money at your shops. I am really disgusted...
Read moreI moved to Sugarland from the Heights and this gym is not anywhere close to as nice.
this gym is closed at 7pm on Saturday and Sunday. The gym at Garden Oaks closes at 8pm. I know it’s only an hour difference, but that is 2 less hours on the weekend that I can workout. Hence, I should be compensated as such. (E.g. lower monthly fee)
there is not enough equipment, especially weights. There’s only 1 squat rack in this place. Seriously? This gym needs to make an investment in equipment people will actually use. And I only go during “off hours” and it’s a struggle to do the workouts I want to do because of the lack equipment. Also, the weight benches and other equipment are kind of gross and old looking. Years ago, I had a 24hr fitness membership in Pasadena and the equipment was in much better condition. This gym is definitely in need of an update in that regard.
the weights are NEVER where they should be. Now, I understand that this is not strictly the gym’s fault as their member’s are also responsible for re-racking, but it’s still not a good look for the gym overall. And I imagine that as unorganized as the dumbbells are, the staff does not assist in re-racking weights either.
the racquetball courts. The other gym I went to did not have these and I honestly have yet to see anyone actually use them. I’m willing to bet that less than 10% of the members who go to this gym actually use them so I’m not sure why the gym needs 4? Seems like a gross waste of space and resources.
the area roped off for personal training is way too much of a waste of floor space. It looks especially ridiculous since I have yet to see anyone utilizing the personal training section. Granted, I do go to the gym on “off hours” most of time, but I imagine that with the amount of times I’ve been to this gym, it’s statistically unlikely that I would not have seen someone using this area by now.
In summation, this gym is ok, but the monthly price for what you get should be in the $15-$20 range. I didn’t realize how good I had it at the...
