At 6pm on a Wednesday I walked in and the place was completely empty. That should have been a clue. The a/c was either not working. Or turned up high cause it was hot and musty in the dining area. The young woman working that evening came out from the back to take my order. I asked her a few questions about the menue and food. Most of her answeres were a dull. "I don't know". A cook was chilin in the back so I called out through the window to ask him. He didn't budge, nor even look up. She said. "he doesn't speak English". So I took some some guesses and ordered 3 individual tenders and the chicken fries. The fountain drink machine was not working so the fountain drinks were hot and the machine was not making ice. One other customer came in while I was eating and it turns out, this machine has been out of order for quite some time, as I heard that customer complain it was not working last time he was there (can't imagine why someone would return. But to each his own). Anyway, bought a water and a bubly. About $35 for 3 tenders chicken fries and two bottles/canned drinks. Not a great deal but it did include a tip for the girl working the register. The the dining area was dirty and poorly maintained. Vinyl seats torn and peeling. Tables had not been wiped down, several were crumby and greasy. And walls were grimey with ketchup or sauce dried on the wall at the booth I sat in. The garbage cans were over flowing. Considering there was no customers when I entered and business was SLOW, (only one other customer in about half an hour) it is a shame the employees couldn't take up a little basic housekeeping. Employees seemed as if working there was such a drag. This is all signs of bad management and lack of training. When my order was ready she called me from behind the counter. Considering the place was empty it would have been nice if she walked around and brought it out to where I was sitting (I had given her a tip for just taking my order and not answering most of my questions), but hey, no big deal. Food was NOT good. The chicken tenders were tiny. At about $3 or $4 each they are WAY overpriced. I also realized she actually got my order wrong, I ordered 3 individual tenders and she brought me one individual tender and a chicken basket with fries (which I did not want). I ordered medium and extra hot. The chicken itself was dry and lacks flavor. The seasoning was just dry spices it tasted like old stale spices and could taste the inside of the spice container. The aspirated some seasoning when taking a bite, that's how dry it all was . The "Texas" toast did not taste buttered, rather it tasted like bland griddle oil and was not good and a little soggy. The sauce I felt was overly sweet. I did not care for the pickles. They are too thin and too sweet and not at all crispy. The chicken fries were just gross. Fries undercook and soggy drenched in gobs of salty cheese sauce that was already chill by the time my order was ready. Send the a/c in the back was working fine. It was ice cold in the restroom. Restroom was dirty, garbage full. Toilet and floor needrd to be cleaned, smelled like a bad gas station restroom. Will not give this nor any other HHC another chance. Bad food, bad service, filthy store, poorly maintained. Just over all an...
Read moreLost two/three(2.5) starts because of 1, price and 2, inconsistency. The chicken itself was very well cooked but it seems like as the spice levels go up it's just more raw red chilli powder. I got a spicy loaded fries and 2 extra tenders mild and extra spicy. BE CAREFUL, THERE SPICY LEVEL STARTED 3 OR 4 SPICY LEVELS ABOVE NORMAL. Compared to other restaurants average, a super spicy dish there would be a mild or medium at howdy. So the extra spicy tender after just a tiny bite numbed our entire month and was just stupid spicy no flavor at all and no warning is giving. Typically for something this spicy you have to sign a waiver just because the Capsaicin causes swelling and blistering in the month and anywhere else if touched. If u enjoy raw chilli powder by the spoonful this ones for you. The mild tender vs my hot loaded fries were about the same heat, still pretty bland besides the spicy factor but again the chicken was cooked perfectly. The medium spicy was also about the same as mild and hot. It seems like the prices have come down a bit from the old reviews I read but it still very pricy for "meal". $11 for anything on the menu it's all the same price making the loaded fries the best value but it's brought down by the plain stale fries like mentioned in some other reviews. The sause is good. It's a pretty standard "secret sauce" with some of the spice blend in it. Besides the price, What I've heard from some people is that each level varies depending on the day. Sometimes levels are hotter on some days while less spicy on other days, which tells me that there probably isn't different spices for each level but just one blend that is sprinkled on little or alot. I personally wouldn't go again but if I had to I'd go with no spice to at least enjoy...
Read moreI visited on today. I was a bit skeptical because I pass this place all of the time. Who can mess up chicken right??? Ms. Judy helped me. She explained the menu because it was my first time. She was extremely patient, kind, and had the best sense of humor. We laughed and learned a little bit about each other. She recommended what she eats and I made my decisions from there. I ordered the chicken strips in Medium, with a Coleslaw, and Mac and Cheese. Another lady there who was also extremely helpful gave me a sample of the Coleslaw after she heard me asking Ms. Judy about it. What I don’t like: You can’t substitute those waffle fries on that basket for a different side. Essentially you’re stuck paying more money for something you don’t even want. I asked that some medium seasoning be put on the fries with no flavor. Still did no good. I don’t even think salt comes on them. What I do like: I had to drive far away to get home so I can’t complain about the food temperature once so got home but it sure smelled good on the way home. The chicken was tasty and I was a little worried it wouldn’t taste seasoned due to the spice but it was good. The Mac and Cheese was good, the Coleslaw could use something, I’m just not sure what it is but it isn’t horrible. I would go back again. Keep smiling Ms. Judy! That 4th star is for your great...
