iâve bought some cute stuff from the store but selling stuff was a little frustrating. I came in with two bags as i donât have boxes at the moment and they told me starting september they would not take any bags it was the beginning of august so i didnât think it would be a problem at the moment. they told me the wait was going to be about an hour and i was waiting for two hours i brought two bags in and the first bag they only bought one thing for 1 dollar i mean seriously only one dollar? I saw them looking through my second bag but i asked if they were done they werenât aware that i brought two bags which couldâve been a simple mistake they said they would call me name up again after they are done looking. It wasnât even two minutes (im not exaggerating) and they called me up and said they could only give me 5 dollars i decided to just take the five dollars and they asked if i wanted to donate and i said no thatâs okay iâll take my bags and they put my bags in the shelf behind them and i said i was going to take them and they asked âyou donât want to donate them?â no. why would i donate them here and have them still sell some things they didnât buy from me. I brought them items with tags, summer and winter clothes, trendy and non trendy items. trendy shoes and timeless shoes that have never been worn and some gently worn. iâm not really sure what they were looking for. they said based on my condition of the clothes they couldnât take them but those clothes have never been worn and had tags so what was so bad about the condition? I walked past the counter and i saw them with my shirt and they said âthis isnât a good shirtâ and the other employee said âwell you donât have to get itâ and that was the shirt they gave me for a dollar if it wasnât a good shirt why take it? i donât blame the employees iâm sure itâs frustrating having to go through peopleâs used clothes but the whole experience was frustrating im not sure if i would come here to donate again i find some good items in store (although a little pricey at times) but id probably go someplace else to...
Read moreMy daughter asked me to take her to sell clothes. She didnât have much, one shopping bag full. What I did not know, was since they take walk-ins and thereâs no limit on how much you can bring, the wait is very long. She came out and said one hour. Important: We are told that if you do not come back in one hour, you will not get cash. After that hour, you will get store credit. It was a little longer than I wanted, but I agreed. We walked around, got a smoothie, went to Trader Joeâs. At the hour mark, we were told 30 more minutes. Still not thrilled but I agreed. It was not worth it to drive home and come back but had I known it wouldâve been more than the hour I wouldâve done just that. We go back after the additional 30 minutes, and this time I went in with her because Iâve waited an hour and a half already. We go inside and her clothes are neatly stacked with a piece of paper on them. I am hopeful that the transaction is going to be completed. We tell the associate, thatâs our stack, and she says oh âweâre not to it yet itâs gonna be 15 more minutesâ. I had had it, an hour and 45 minutes?! We are supposed to adhere to their ill predicted estimates or be subject to store credit instead of cash. But they donât have to be accurate on their estimates? Itâs not so much the time, itâs the time kept extending. And that clause that they have! Store credit if weâre not back on time?! At no time was I offered to come back the next day and we would still get cash. There was no discussion. They could see I was upset and they just said âoh, here you goâ. I heard another associate say âoh he was going take it all?â And the one who was helping us said âYep, but she wants to leaveâ. There was no trying to appease the customer in anyway or even offer an apology. I think they rely on young people who wonât push back. And if thatâs not the way they do business, thatâs certainly how it was...
Read moreMy experience with Uptown Cheapstake was nothing short of disappointing. After dropping off my clothes at 11:30, I was informed that it would take approximately 45 minutes for them to look through my items. Considering this timeframe, I agreed and left my clothes in their hands. However, when 1:00 rolled around and I still hadn't received a text indicating that they had completed the evaluation, I decided to go in and check on the progress.
To my dismay, I was told to wait an additional 15 minutes, despite already waiting for over an hour beyond the initially agreed-upon timeframe. What's more frustrating is that despite the lengthy wait, Uptown Cheapstake could only accept two bags of clothes at a time. This limitation further exacerbated the waiting time, leaving me wondering why it took them over two hours to assess my items.
Upon finally receiving the evaluation, I was shocked to find out that I would only be receiving a meager total of $36 for the two hours they had my clothes. This sum hardly justified the time I wasted waiting for them to go through my items. In hindsight, I would have been better off donating my clothes to Goodwill, where at least my time wouldn't have been squandered.
Overall, my experience with Uptown Cheapstake was incredibly frustrating and unsatisfactory. The excessive wait times, coupled with the low compensation for my items, left me feeling like my time and effort were completely undervalued. I would caution others against using their services if they value their time and expect fair compensation for...
