Disappointment in Costco. Let me say that i'm a regular Costco fan. i buy most of my household items and appliances/TVs from Costco. I liked Costco single price for appliances + accessories + delivery. I hope that someone in Costco management will read this review and improve the appliance delivery process to make it safer. I recently bought a gas oven and gas dryer in December 2024. The delivery team was polite and fast in their installation. I found out that they were brought in from Dallas to help with all of the orders during the Holiday purchases. The delivery team is not Costco employees. After the Costco delivery team left, my wife and I noticed the smell of natural gas coming from the gas dryer, which was located in the garage and also in the house with the smell coming from the new oven. I automatically shut off the gas valve behind each appliance and called the Costco online 800 phone number. They sent a new delivery team to inspect the installation of the appliances. They have discovered that both appliances were installed incorrectly and natural gas were leaking from both appliances. I went on Amazon and bought a natural gas detector electronic device and it worked great. I showed the 2nd delivery team the device and it validated the leak. The device only costs $35, Costco should have this device for all the appliances delivery team to validate that there is no gas leak after the appliance have been installed. Afterwards, I went to my Costco store in Sugar Land and asked to talked to a manager, the person behind the counter desk said that the manager is very busy and he can help me. I told him of the problem and he just said for me to call Costco online 800 number and he can't do anything else. I explained to him that I'm concerned that the 1st delivery team have made the same mistake on all of the installation of gas appliances for Costco and it's a real safety hazard. He just brushed me off since the store was very busy on a Saturday and I left. When a company grows very large and the employees stop caring with focus on making the sale, this is when I stop supporting that company. I hope someone in upper management at Costco read this review since I really do like...
Read moreI’ve been a loyal Costco member, eagerly awaiting special deals and hoping to make the most of my membership. Recently, I planned to buy a Samsung 85QN85D TV during Costco's promotions, only to be disappointed when I found the same price at Best Buy and other retailers. This experience made me wonder—where is the real value in being a Costco member if the deals aren’t unique or better?
Costco markets itself as a place where members get exclusive deals and savings, but when big-ticket items like TVs, electronics, and appliances are priced the same as other retailers, it feels like we’re paying a membership fee for nothing extra. While it’s true Costco offers excellent product quality and guarantees, competitive pricing should also be a major part of their value to members.
Beyond pricing, Costco has also been tightening its policies on membership usage. I recently discovered that even close family members can’t use your membership card, nor can they use their own credit card to pay. This strict policy makes it seem as though Costco cares more about enforcing fees than extending the perks of membership to families. It’s frustrating to feel like you’re paying a premium for what feels like restrictive, impersonal service.
Costco has built a strong reputation for bulk discounts and member value, but if they’re going to compete with everyday retail stores without adding more savings, what’s the point of membership? It would be great to see Costco offer truly exclusive deals or find ways to make the membership experience feel special again—like adding more discounts only available to members, letting family members pay with their own cards, or at least improving the availability of unique pricing.
I’m left wondering if being a member of Costco really delivers on what they promise. I hope this review helps others consider whether the membership fee is worth it and encourages Costco to listen to its customers. Loyal members deserve better than to feel like they’re paying for the privilege of shopping at...
Read moreEDIT TO ADD: When entering the store well I can’t say even enter there is a lady holding a Costco card in her hand waving it like we are trying to get past her like TSA/Security at an airport. She is very hostile. Obviously we know we need a card to shop and checkout, but to enter..okay yes we know we need that too… but do not treat us like crap thinking we do not have it. It’s raining ect ….give us time to get it and show it.. quit acting like a cop asking for ID like we are refusing to show it and end up in cuffs. There was an older man basically a senior citizen, and she told him no you cannot come in you need your card he said I just walked out and you saw me..I needed to get our list from the car ..my wife is in here already you saw us.. she told him no you both need a card to enter. So how did they get by the first time, she makes no sense. Like stop the madness, she was horrible to him and others. That type of harassing treatment will loose customers. She needs to be removed and replaced. Let’s get into it. Costco has some amazing deals , and a great variety of merchandise from the electronics, clothes, and food. The deli does need some major attention. The drink/fountain dispenser is out of whack. All lines running white and are just wasting carbon. Lacks variety of drinks as well, there is not a place in site to grab a non fountain drink which is not good due to these poor selection and lack of maintenance of the fountain dispenser. The self checkout is insane.. the clerk start’s shooting that gun at everything not giving you time to look at the screen to make sure all prices are what they are displayed at. The checking of receipts is okay but the person needs to be focused on that not talking to whoever besides the customer so we won’t be bumper to bumper trying to get out. I will update this review as monitor this...
