I have considered this place a 5 star establishment on my visits prior to tonight. I came in about 9pm and assume the stock is low at this time and accept that. I grab a few items most of which were the last of their kind and proceed to check out.
While putting my items in the little bags I notice a bug crawling around on one of my items. I point it out to the cashier and she tosses it and goes to get a replacement. She comes back and tells me there are no more left and that I could pick another “bread” item. I asked if I could get a blueberry muffin as there were no other items available that I wanted.
She tells me that a muffin can’t be swapped because it’s not the same type. I reiterate that there was a bug in their food and I didn’t think my request was that unreasonable. She catches an attitude immediately and proceeds to tell me “that’s why I threw it away!”
At this point I’ve already paid so i tell her never mind a replacement I’ll just take what I have. I ask her if there is a manager nearby and she points to a guy in the back and says him and moves on the next customer.
I slide over and wait on my drinks and the manager brings them over. I explain the situation to him and he tells me that they can only swap items of the same type for inventory purposes. I tell him I don’t care about the item at this point and I’m more upset by the employee’s attitude. He seemed disinterested in what I had to say and gave me a very insincere apology and sent me on my way.
This is only one bad experience of many I have made to several locations and I hope to not encounter this type of behavior and practice...

The first thing you notice walking in is the massive self-serve pastry wall. Trays filled with fresh bread, buns, and pastries are constantly being restocked, and the selection feels endless — from savory options like the pork sung bun to lighter sweets like egg tarts, milk buns, and strawberry pastries. Everything looks inviting and bakes come out throughout the day, so it’s hard to leave with just one or two items.
The drinks menu is just as impressive. Coffees and teas are made fresh, with standouts like the sea salt coffee and floral teas that balance richness with a refreshing finish. It’s easy to grab a pastry in one hand and a drink in the other and call it a perfect snack.
On a personal note, this location has become a real hangout for my kids. My son bikes here often and the staff actually know him by name — that kind of personal connection makes the place feel even more special. All the kids love coming here, whether it’s for an after-school treat or just to explore the pastry cases.
Prices are fair for the quality and freshness, but the one tip I’d share is to go earlier in the day. Popular items sell out fast, and you’ll have more variety if you don’t wait until late afternoon.
Overall, 85 °C Bakery strikes the perfect balance between a quick grab-and-go bakery and a welcoming café to linger in. Fresh pastries, creative drinks, and friendly staff make it an easy 5 stars...
Read moreI called this bakery today (12/15/23 at 8pm) to order a couple of cakee for Christmas. They informed me that I could get a 15% discount if I waited until December 20th. I checked their website and that's the cutoff, I need to order BEFORE then to get the discount. They tried to scam me out of the discount. So I called again and told them their website says I need to order BEFORE December 20th. The same guy said that's only online. So then I go online again. What do you know, the website says the 15% discount only applies in-store. So I call again, ask what's going on. They said "well the website doesn't always work so that's why they don't do it online", but that's the opposite of what I was just told 5 minutes before from the SAME person on the phone. I asked to speak to another person, he said he is the manager. I asked for his name and he said he's Jack. So... I hope it's just a bad employee who doesn't understand their policy, because if it is the manager, he's trying to scam people out of their discounts. I guarantee when December 20th arrives he will (correctly) say it's too late to get the discount. That's messed up, I will not be purchasing the cakes I was going to with this rude and lying bakery! I accidently posted this to the wrong location today. This review IS for the 85C Bakery Sugar Land,...
