I use to LOVE Jinya... then I think it just got entirely too big and ever since then the price has gone UP (sky high) but the quality and portions have gone DOWN!. So where do I begin: Tonkotsu spicy ramen is one of the only ones that doesn't come with an egg. Why? Is their spicy sauce made of gold? Probably not since their spiciest tonkotsu DOES come with one. Make it make sense. They are charging premium prices for broth, noodles, a couple of bean sprouts, and a piece or two of meat. Most ramen places include an egg, corn, a few pieces of meat and still don't charge as much as Jinya does. Their broth is lacking a lot of flavor. It use to be incredible. Or... maybe there just weren't many options when I started eating at jinya. Now it's bland and basic at best. Every their meat is not seasoned and extremely bland Their salad is always good even if they give you a hint of dressing Their crispy chicken is ok... it use to be amazing but it seems to now lack flavor/seasoning. The texture of it is super crunchy which I like. It's small. So if it's busy know you may be sitting with complete strangers shoulder to shoulder. Not to mention they yell loud everytime someone comes in which is a lot.
Today is my last day eating at Jinya. It's just too disappointing especially for the price. I'm struggling to finish my ramen bc it just isn't good, but paying almost $30 for one person and a combo I feel forced to finish it.
And even with these rising prices and subpar quality the icing on the cake... minimal service in the building but no guest wifi. In my opinion Jinya got too cocky. Don't settle. You can get better ramen with more "stuff" in it for a far better price than Jinya. It's so disappointing bc Jinya use to be my SPOT, and I put so many people on game. You've got better options in Rosenberg, Sugar Land and Katy. This is just a chain at this point, and a subpar...
Read moreThis was my first time eating here and I’ve got to say the service was amazing. They always made sure you were taken care of. I had the tonkotsu black ramen (hot)which I think drowns out the creamy flavor of the ramen. Next time I would have the spice on the side as it made the ramen taste like it was a bit sour and spicy without the creamy taste.
The regular non spicy Jinya tonkotsu was absolutely amazing! The broth was super hearty and delicious! The egg they put in was perfect and what you’d expect from a ramen place. The pork chashu in both dishes were perfect like they were deeply marinated in the regular tonkotsu broth. The noodles were close to what you’d see in instant noodles but not that thin. The texture of the noodles were not flimsy yet not overly firm either. They were just right for me.
We ordered a side of karaage but next time I would order a 5 piece side instead of a ten piece as it was a bit much portion wise for two people. The karaage was superb! Crunchy yet juicy on the inside!
We came in for dinner a little after 7pm on a Tuesday and the place was pretty packed. We originally were seated on a diner style corner seat which was cramped as I am a big guy, then moved closer to the front at the bar stool table top seat. Seating was perfect for us. It is a bit congested but I found if you wait a bit you will get a table of your liking in 10-15mins. For taller/larger people I recommend the barstool seating closer to the front or seating at the tables in the middle of the restaurant.
I saw a lot of comments on the music being too loud here, but I didn’t feel it was overly loud. I guess it comes down to personal preference on that. All in all it was a great experience, great staff, good food, nice ambiance, and I would come back to...
Read moreI was really disappointed during my recent visit yesterday to one of my favorite restaurants for ramen. I arrived around 7 PM and was seated at the bar. The bartender came over to take our drink order and walked away to input it. Just as she reached the register, a gentleman walked in and sat down. She immediately turned around, went around the bar to greet him warmly, and engaged him in a friendly conversation much more engaging than the interaction we had received.
After chatting with him, she went back behind the bar and began showing him different wines they had in stock. When he mentioned those weren’t what he was looking for, she eventually brought him sake. Meanwhile, my friend placed a food order, and the bartender walked off quickly without even asking if I wanted to order anything as well.
To make matters worse, right before preparing our drinks, I watched her touch and play with her hair, which made me very uncomfortable. At that point, I decided to leave.
I’ve been to this location many times and have always had a great experience...until now. Sadly, this visit left a bad impression, and I don’t see myself returning to the...
