I really do not wish to do this review because I have been a long time fan of this place and have really enjoyed most of my visits to this store. My experience is purely based on selling my findings from my metal detecting and random finds . I have sold to Kim only a handful of time but have brought tons of items in for them to pursue a sell . They were always very kind and knowledgeable. The most important thing they used to provide was a sense of genuine interest in treating people like the deserve to be treated, meaning in such a place they would do their due diligence to check and verify the pieces and qualities of items (verifying authentic metal types and gem stone etc.) They would even go as far as sharing said knowledge so to better help me make sure I wasn't bring in fake stuff there by teaching me a good bit on this Subject. This o appreciate and thank them for... however today's experience was not short of a straight kick in the face or out the door soon as i entered. The gentleman started with telling me that they don't allow book bags in their store. The assumed reason I woukd guess may seem warranted based on specific or certain safety concerns. However there is a very important factor in this that is and can be considered a form of discrimination if pursued properly. Simply because if they allow say a woman enter in to there store with a purse or a man with a hip pouch etc. And they do not require them to leave tgere bag out as well the this is considered a violation of someone civil rights. You can't go picking and choosing who can and can't bring something into your store , let me be clear that they have every right to make such requirements to do business with them but they must be the case across the board. So that no one is allowed to bring any back into their store not just that (in my case a guy riding a motorcycle with his belongings in a book bag that will be facilitate the doing of business) just as the purpose for a female carrying a purse. Next the guy ask what I was in for and I asked him if they were interested in buying a piece I found from the "heartbeat collection " (whatever that is based on my research some being pretty valuable.) The guy opens the box and asked what it is or something about it being silver all with out doing any real looking as a jeweler does to check on what type of precious metal and gem stone may be on a piece. Tells me they don't really buy silver , also fine but if he would have pulled out his loop and looked as he would see that it is marked 10k with genuine diamonds total weight being 1/4 karat . So I fhis one experience changes my entire perspective on this place and because I Care to prevent this from happening to others and know how helpful this review can be to both the business owners and the public. I won't be returning due to this sort of experience nor will I go making any sort of word of mouth promotions for others to shop or check this place out... so this completes my book length review and hope it will help over all. No one person nor group of people are equal to nor better than any other person or group of people so treating others in a individuals and respectful manner is all we can to to move thru life with honor ... be kind and listen to the people, especially when that is a requirement of your very job u get paid...
Read moreWhere do I start? First of all, to Kim & everyone involved with sales, answering phones, running the store, fixing jewelry, THANK YOU. I brought my engagement ring in about a month after my fiancé proposed to see about making it sleeker and more flush with my finger. It was my grandmother’s ring, an antique, and I was SO scared every time I put it on my finger that it would catch on my clothes or get knocked on something! Fast forward to now (about a year later) I brought the ring in again with the same concerns. I was finally convinced to send the ring off to the jeweler to let them work their magic!! Kim took special time out of her day to meet with me, and stood there & made SEVERAL drawings to make sure she understood my “vision.” The very first thing she said to me was, “There’s a lot we can do here...but what matters is what YOU want to do. How can I help?” To have someone be so patient and understanding about how special this piece of jewelry was to my, I will always be thankful. We corresponded over e-mail & text (seriously, how many jewelers TEXT you to keep you updated!!) She sent me a picture of my ring & made special accommodations for me to come pick it up. I’ve probably cried half a dozen times since then because every time I look at my ring I’m like, “Wow! It’s exactly what I wanted.” Kim & her team couldn’t have been sweeter when I picked up my ring. They even relayed the message that Kim can’t wait to work on our wedding bands! I will NEVER go anywhere else for jewelry of any kind. Seriously. THAT is how much Kim & her team have impacted me! They are truly amazing, will treat you like family, & they want what YOU want - not to push their own personal agenda. If you have a ring you want custom-made, a piece of jewelry you want re-worked, or if you’re looking for something sparkly to add to your collection, LOOK NO FURTHER. I could write a novel about how much...
Read moreI cannot recommend Kim's Jewelry in Summerville.
When taking a piece I bought 2 months ago from them for repair, I asked for an appraisal. They balked at my request for an appraisal. I was told it might not be worth over $500 and not worth insuring.
Completely devastated by their comments, as I had spent thousands for the piece only to hear that it wasn't worth anything. I congratulated them in their profit and told them to fix it. I was upset, feeling taken advantage of, and cheated.
I cannot do business with people I don't trust their opinion and expertise. At purchase they sold me on the piece, then in this visit they gloated how it wasnt worth anything and ganged up on me that they never would have said otherwise. On top of being taken advantage of, their condescending, smug attitude is difficult to overlook.
I was looking for a jeweler, not just for one purchase but to have a wishlist for future items. I understand they need to make a profit but items are heavily overpriced and the same items can be found elsewhere for less.
In the heat of the moment I left my repair with them but wish I hadn't. After pickup it will be the last time I trust them with my patronage.
Lastly, the joy of buying real jewelry, something beautiful and to represent more than itself has been tainted with unnecessary ugliness.
Upon picking up the item and its appraisal, it was fixed and the appraisal was within range of what was spent for the piece of jewelry.
A prime example of horrible customer service and the attitude of the staff. I expect honesty and decency from those I do business with, especially...
