If you enjoy torturing yourself then this is the place to go. John V/Levin furniture has beautiful furniture and the salesman (Oliver) at John V is absolutely fantastic! But once you get past swiping your cardâŚgood luck! Acquiring said furniture is like walking through fire and the delivery service and team is absolutely atrocious. My husband and I recently moved, spending over thirty thousand dollars in that store; and the customer service the company has provided has been lack-luster, defeating, and abysmal to say the least.
Specifics below: We bought a 98â entertainment stand in late June/early July 2024 with an expected delivery of 8-12 weeks (which we were fine with). After 13 weeks - WE THE CUSTOMER had to reach out and ask about an ETA on our stand. Thankfully our kind salesman (again, we recommend Oliver!) stepped up to figure out that our 98â had then been DISCONTINUED. So, John V urged us to buy the next size down (of course!). Well since we had already bought the matching end tables and cocktail table to the entertainment stand (which were now non returnable) we felt forced to buy the smaller size. So, we purchased the smaller entertainment stand. So, we were further delayed in getting this new entertainment stand based on delivery scheduling.
When the first stand came we had to refuse it due to scratches all over it. However, the delivery team wanted to leave the fireplace insert since âit was functional.â Then we had to reschedule another delivery for the entertainment stand (and the scheduling team unkind and not willing to work with us, we had to schedule PTO for the second delivery). They brought the unit again. Almost left without installing the fireplace âbecause they werenât told they had to do that.â Oh and they didnât have handles for my unit (see pictures) or the shelf that went with it. Multiple calls were made and the handles and shelves were supposed to be shipped to us. First they were supposed to be here in 10-14 days. Then it got pushed back, then again, and again. It is now mid NOVEMBER. I still donât have my handles or shelf. They were just here on November 9th (in which I had to cancel my Saturday plans, because you MUST HAVE ALL DAY AVAILABILITY FOR SATURDAY DELIVERIES) with a âwhole new unitâ where they were just supposed to give me the handles and shelf. They opened the box andâŚthe unit on their truck didnât have handles and the shelf was scratched to high heavens. Did I mention November 9th was my birthday celebration? đĽł
We have now been rescheduled for November 16th (another Saturday in which I canât make plans)âŚwould anyone like to take bets on who or what will show up? My guess is as good as yours.

   Read moreTerrible customer service and delivery commitments unreliable. I must first say, Im very disappointed in writing this. We have been loyal John V shoppers for many years, fully outfitting several of our homes, from living room sets to bedroom sets. Recent customer service issues have forced us to rethink our spending habits here. I ordered an entire furniture set for our family room, which included sectionals, end tables, coffee table, reclining power swivel and a power flex steel recliner. At the time the order was made, we were provided a delivery date for the sectional and tables, however, was told the Flexsteel recliner would be a bit longer and was expected to be at their warehouse within a week or 2. After receiving part of our order, we reached out to the sales associate to check on status of the chair. She informed us that it was due to arrive at the warehouse on 11/26 and that we would receive a call to schedule delivery at that time. On November 29th, we had no update, so we reached out to customer service. They stated the chair wasnt due in until the end of December. Expressing my frustration, they offered no explanation as to why the date kept changing. However, our sales associate did say the delay was on the manufacturer end. Fast forward..... end of December comes and not a single phone call from John V to schedule delivery or to at least update us on another broken promised timeframe. January 9th I emailed our sales associate for yet another update and we receive no response back. By January 23rd.... still not a single contact from John V. On the 23rd, we were out shopping for new office furniture so had plans to stop in here anyway. While there we asked to speak to a manager regarding the very long DELAY. We met with Ashley who looked the order up and told us there was an issue she could fix. Something about the way the chair was input in the system. She stated she could schedule delivery now. Apparently the chair was in stock and was being held. She offered no apology and seemed very inconvenienced for my pulling her from whatever she was doing, to assist us. Their lack of care and follow up told me to stop doing business with them so i canceled the chair order and drove straight to Furniture Row down the street. We ended up buying our new office furniture.... as well as the same Flex Steel recliner at Furniture Row (first time dealing with them). Great company and prices are much more reasonable.    Read moreWhen I went in to order my furniture I was quoted a price. When he did the paperwork for the furtniure he came back with a price that was double the original price. I noted this was incorrect. It took another hour for him to fix this and charge me the correct amount for the furniture. He also wrote my email down wrong so I had no updates on my delivery. I was told it would be delivered on a Friday and called to check the delivery and the store employee did not apologize just said they must have told you the wrong date. I had to then wait until Monday for it to be deleivered and was told I would receive a phone call within 20-25 minutes of the delivery. I never received a phone call. I got a text stating they would be at my house in 10 minutes. I had to rush to leave work to get on my house on time. It was not convenient at all. Then after 2 days my furntiure already breaks and I was looking for a resolution by calling my local Erie store. I recieved horrible customer service over the phone from the employee in the store. The only thing she told me was I can place a ticket regarding this and you will hear from someone in the next 5 business days. Keep in mind I have nothing else to sleep on. The actual customer service department has been in contact with me regarding a ticket I placed and they were extremely nice and willing to assist. I had an associate at the store in Erie hang up on me twice. I am still waiting to hear back from a manager regarding broken furntiure that arrived only 3 days ago. The person who answered the phone at the store was extremely rude and unwilling to assist. I would never hang up on a client who is needing assistance and she did this twice. She refused to give me her name and hung up when I asked for it. She told me the clients in the store were more important than me because I was on the phone. I called in at 10 am today and have her to hear back from management regarding my issue with the furniture and the employee who was very disrespectful. Thankfully someone from the customer service department is assisting me but I am still waiting for my call back from the store regarding all of my issues I have had to deal with. I would never recommend this company to anybody and itâs a real shame that they think this is acceptable to do to a client who has been more than patient with this company through all of the issues I have had so far.
