This store allows collectibles, DVD’s, etc to be traded in for cash or store credit. Many people come into the store each day and trade items in. I have brought sealed figures (in their original boxes) into this store in the past, and had never had an instance where my items were tampered with, until my most recent visit. I live in New York, so it’s not the easiest thing for me to drive all the way out here to visit the store. On my most recent visit, the store was interested in several of my figures (valued at approximately $30 each) and wanted to give me some cash for them. I politely declined after finding out that I would be receiving about $2.25 cash per figure. These VERY LOW trade amounts are COMMONPLACE for this store. They give out the LOWEST possible trade amounts for your items. The whole point is to make your money, their money. I drove home with the figures, thinking little much else about the transaction. Come to discover after I’ve returned home that the store cut open the sealed figure boxes on 3 of my figures. I did not give them consent to open up the boxes, nor did they notify me that they wanted to open up the boxes. Because I would have told them, “Don’t open them up.” They destroyed the taped seal to three of my figure boxes. That was the original factory seal. I sell my figures elsewhere if I don’t trade them in at The Exchange. And customers DO notice this. The figures lose value because the original seal has been cut. Figuring this act was (rightfully) unfair, I called up this store to ask for a refund on the value that I had lost on these figures, solely because I had brought them into the store for trade. Keep in mind that I did not ask for a FULL refund on the figures, which would have came out to about $90. I only asked for the value that I had lost out on because the figures were opened, which is approximately $20. That’s a reasonable request. In the most ignorant way possible, the male employee who cut open the figure boxes (the receipt says that he’s named ZB) told me that the seal was “literally just Scotch tape”, and that they needed to check inside the box for if I was lying about what was inside. WOW. They just automatically assume that their customers are lying to them? Why would you assume that when you’re giving away CHUMP CHANGE for each trade item you receive? I understand that some customers are untrustworthy, and that the seal on the figure boxes LOOKS like ordinary Scotch tape. But this tape was put onto the box by the original manufacturer. If an online buyer were to look at these figures now, and notice that the tape is missing, they won’t CARE that The Exchange cut open the otherwise-sealed figure. They would notice that the tape has been cut, and demand a lower price for the item. And thus, I have lost value on my figures as the seller. I would have accepted anything, whether it be store credit, cash, or replacement items from this store for what they did, without my permission. But good ol’ ZB, the man who worked on my trade, just laughed on the phone, gave me no compensation or reason to return, and brushed me off with a few uninterested-sounding “I’m sorry”s. The words “I’m sorry” don’t mean anything when you’re not authentically sorry. How do I know that they won’t destroy my trade items next time? I will be following this up with further communications and phone calls to The Exchange. I may even look into if this will hold up in court. They’ve got store security camera footage of ZB opening up my figures, don’t they? 😏 I will NEVER return to this store. If you want to trade in random items for cash or store credit, go to your local pawn shop. They’ll provide the same customer service experience to you and will give you just as much cash, if not more, for your items. And they won’t DESTROY your items. This store deserves none of your trade-in items for their profit. Pictures provided down below for how they cut open the taped seals on, not THEIR figures, but MY figures. Also, “ZB” is one of the dumbest names I’ve ever heard.

I want to start out by saying, I've shopped this store many times while in town. Family that lives in town does as well. Not once have I or family ever had a problem with this store. This store always appears clean and employees are friendly and helpful. On 12/26/19 I visited this store and purchased 2 SONIC games, 2 DREAMCAST, and 1 GENESIS for my collection. I should have checked before handing over money to these people, but I guess I had to much trust for these employees. After arriving home in Ohio a few days later from Christmas vac. I found the wrong power cord, controller, and RF wire in my bag for the GENESIS. Whether it works or not, I purchased an original GENESIS, not a retrobit. I would have went else where for this system. Not only that, but the systems are dirty and dusty, which is not the deal breaker. When I called up to this store, to make a long story a little shorter, my only option is to drive 3 hours back to Erie and return $210.00 worth of game systems. Instead of making this right and allowing a family member to drive 10 mins to this store and pick up a few cords and a controller, that employee BW failed to give me. If this matters to you, check everything, cause after talking with them on the phone. They do this on purpose. Before they knew how far I live away, they told me to bring in cords and controller to exchange them for the right cords and controller. this day and age, you shouldn't need the receipt to scan. look it up on my account I signed up for. After I return this stuff to them, I will never return again!

Sold a VR set for a PS4 and I was told it was "the complete set - everything the original set had and that I would need," but didn't come with headphones. So my child didn't open it until Christmas and low and behold we don't have corded headphones in the house. You could easily buy the VR system used online for a much cheaper price and that's what I shouldve done. I thought buying the "complete set" would save me time and guarantee it to work, but now I have to go purchased a set of headphones on top of the nealry $200 I spent here. The manager said "you don't need them" and that I can "just go buy a pair." I fully understand that I don't want used ones, but if they're so cheap and you're selling this at a higher rate Tham everywhere else throw a pair in the box or inform me about what I'm purchasing.

I've purchased a number of things at The Exchange since it was recommended to me by a friend shortly after I moved to NW PA about five years ago. Their staff is friendly and knowledgeable, they have good merchandise and equipment, and I appreciate supporting a business that's not GameStop or Amazon.

I recently got married! In preparation to merge my stuff with wife's, I sold off a handful of old games and consoles. I didn't get a ton of money for them, but it was worth it to me not to have to sell it on Ebay and/or Craigslist one piece at a time.

I ended up recently using the store credit I received to help purchase a used original Xbox One. Since we're currently in the middle of moving and organizing up our home, it was 40 days between when I purchased the console and when I tried to set it up on a TV at our new house. It turns out that they gave me the wrong power cord! I had even remarked on that when I purchased the console, saying "Huh, no power brick?" I was told that it was inside the console. (I now know that this is only true for the Xbox One S.)

When I made a trip back to the store tonight with the incorrect power cord and the receipt, I was told that I could NOT exchange the incorrect cord for the one I should have originally been given, as it had been 42 days since my purchase, 12 days past the warranty window. However, they were willing to SELL me the correct power cord for $30. (For context, the incorrect cord the gave me retails at $4) I understand that I am technically in the wrong for not setting up my console sooner and verifying that everything works, but I personally found this response to be completely ridiculous. There was no offer of compensation of any kind, not even store credit--just a simple "I'm sorry." This is bad customer service and not at all a good look for a...

So it seems my last review was deleted so I’ll post it again the exchange is not a great place to sell anything of value to they will look up prices of your items and go with the lowest possible price they can get away with giving you for example I sell some of my funkos now and again when I may need some extra cash and I don’t mean one or two I’ll bring like 20 or so to them and funkos don’t really lose all that much value in a few months as most people are aware but they’ll offer me 13 dollars for 20 mint condition funkos and that to me is a bit ridiculous bc funkos are at retail 13 or more individually unless their special editions so i don’t know what math this place uses or where they get their info from concerning the resale value of collectibles but don’t ever bother selling anything to them in addition to all that the staff isn’t always great while their looking up stuff for you they whisper and point at you while your just simply waiting for them to finish looking through your things to give you a price the manager also seems to try to mansplain things to people he thinks don’t know what their talking about as my wife has come out of the store several times saying he acted like they were stupid 10/10 don’t recommend shopping or selling things here more than likely they give you the lowest amount possible for your collectibles and then sell them for triple the price as I’ve seen some of the funkos I’ve sold to them have price tags for triple or quadruple the Amount they gave me for them originally if your looking to buy anything from them their prices for that are also ridiculously high I’ll reiterate it again don’t bother shopping here or trying to sell...
