The difference a day made! I have only positive things to say about my experience at this hotel. Check-in was welcoming and informative. Without prompting, I received a detailed orientation to the site and its amenities, and was encouraged to use them. ||The commitment to providing outstanding customer service at the Courtyard by Marriott Erie Ambassador Conference Center extends beyond the front desk. Literally every employee I encountered was helpful, gracious, or attentive. For example, one employee gave me recommended two local grocery stores. This morning's breakfast was bountiful and tasty. By contrast, yesterday's breakfast at the Home2 Suites Erie was basic and blah -- breakfast bowls heated by a lamp, plain bagels, and cereal with milk. No yogurt.|||Mainly for work, I spend approximately 60 nights per year at hotels. I recognize that hospitality is largely performative. Even if hotel employees are in a bad mood, they tend to meet the expectation to smile and provide useful information. ||My stay at the Courtyard by Marriott Erie Ambassador Conference Center was flawless. This was a sharp contrast to my previous night's stay at the Home2 Suites in Erie. Unlike at the Courtyard by Marriott Erie Ambassador Conference Center, where my stay was very pleasant, there were zero smiles at the Home2 Suites in Erie. At the Home2 Suites, I was not greeted by name, even after I introduced myself to three employees -- front desk; front desk manager; manager on duty. When I tried to ask questions about the location of the elevators and when breakfast was offered, the front desk manager stopped emptying the trash to butt in the conversation and threaten to cancel my reservation. I obtained that information from the manager on duty, but only after she looked it up.||My room at the Courtyard by Marriott Erie Ambassador Conference Center was clean and comfortable. All the expected amenities were present. Nothing was untidy. By contrast, my room at the Home2 Suites by Erie was clean-ish. There was no lotion in the bathroom. There was no hair conditioner in the bathroom. In the shower, I noticed a VERY dirt place where one might place a bar of soap. While showering, I discovered that there was NO shower gel in the wall-hung dispenser. When I removed its cover, I confirmed the dispense was bone dry. Yet another letdown by the Home2 Suites by Erie. I mean, essentially an employee has to never check the dispenser for it to be empty. ||I had high hopes that my next stay at the Home2 Suites, for which I had pre-paid would be more pleasant. I confirmed my reservation with Hilton Honors on 5-31-23 and 6-1-23. I used the Hilton app to select my room and check-in on 6-1-23. As I approached the front desk at 3 p.m. to get my card keys, I saw the side profile of the front desk manager from the day before. She dashed into the office, closed the door, and canceled my reservation at 3:02 p.m. In my experience, that is an all-time low in customer service by a hotel employee. My brief call to Hilton Honors got me an apology, a refund for my first night's stay, and 50k Hilton Honors points for any frustration I experienced. That's great but it's a shame that Hilton Honors has to make amends for the poor training and management at the Home2Suites in Erie.||They say that things happen for a reason. In this case, my very unpleasant stay at Home2 Suites in Erie helped me notice and appreciate the excellent customer service, room, food, and amenities I got at the Courtyard by Marriott Erie Ambassador...
Read moreThe Courtyard by Marriott Erie Ambassador Conference Center is a good place to stay in Erie. The location is perfect — right near Interstate 90, not far from Interstate 79 and located in the big-box corridor of Erie — with everything from Millcreek Mall to Wegmans to Target to chain restaurants and Splash Lagoon all within a very short drive. And, it's not terribly far from activities in Downtown Erie and Presque Isle.
The hotel rooms are good — the rooms seem generally larger than a lot of hotels I've stayed in.
Many rooms (maybe all, but I cannot easily confirm that in this moment) have a small patio that is great for either sitting outside to enjoy the sunset or just keeping the screen open to let air inside. The patio lights do not go off at night, so if you're like me and enjoy keeping the curtain/blinds open, be ready for a light casting into the room all night.
The rooms have great and spacious bathrooms. The rooms I've had have all had a fridge and a microwave. And every room I've had has had plenty of storage space for luggage and such.
One room I recently stayed in was in the corner and there was a funky hallway from the room's door to the rest of the room — it was odd, but it also seemed to keep any noises from the hallway to a minimum. Just make sure if you order delivery food that you hear the knocking!
The pool area is great, and offers something for every age and interest: A small mushroom kids splash area, a regular hotel pool, a whirlpool and a small sauna. When I've used this area, it's almost never been crowded, so it can be a pleasant experience to just read a book and enjoy the water.
The main area of the hotel's lobby area is huge, and offers plenty of seating and areas to get work done. There is a small breakfast/coffee bar, but I have never seen it open, so I am unsure of those details (I'm not an early riser!) And, I do appreciate hand sanitizer in the elevators!
A few technology notes: The Wi-Fi seems to be a bit weak, in my experience, and this is even for just basic web use (think browsing the web, email). And, if you're like me and bring a Google TV (or a fire stick or anything similar) to cast on hotel room TVs, you're out of luck here. Their hotel TV system overrides the input button. I assume this also means video game systems can't be played. (And if anybody has a solution, let me know.)
If you're able to, get a room with a view to the north or northeast. You can see Presque Isle Bay, Presque Isle and Lake Erie. I've watched thunderstorms and snowstorms go over the lake from this hotel, and...
Read moreHad a worst experience in this hotel. I arrived in this facility at night 11 PM with family ( 3 years old and parents how were 60 + years old ) was on the way to Niagara Falls for the weekend and planned to stay in a Marriott facility as I am Platinum elite. Being commonly Marriott customer typically, use mobile check-in and mobile key option using the Marriott app which shows my assigned rooms numbers etc. On arrival at the night, the mobile key was not working and enquired the front office guy to provide physical card to the rooms in the app. Earlier that evening, I lost my ID during travel and when the requested my ID I told him I lost but I can provide alternatives like Room confirmed in the app, email confirmations or even my wife ID or call / request the Marriott customer service to validating. The person rudely denied to provide the keys to rooms or provide an options to help us here. I tried to explain him, if the app worked in the first I would not begging him as I would have used the mobile key. But he was not willing to hear us out and late at 11 PM, I had to book another 2 new rooms under my wife’s name which was priced higher (200$). I called Marriott customer service , they said they will open a case with the property to address this issue. But I was double charged for the app not working. The new rooms which were provided was not clean too.
Next day in Niagara I stayed in Fairfield hotel and explained my situation, the front office person, worked with the customer service to add my wife name as guest and helped us.
This ID rule was created to help customers but there are certain hotels properties like this one who takes advantage and scams customers. Overall, being platinum members and treated the way I feel bad and heart broken. This was thus far my worst experience...
