MAD Greens - South Austin — Restaurant in Sunset Valley

I wanted to leave this place a better review but I'm an honest reviewer. I believe the system they have here is severely broken. From taking your order to making the food. The first question they ask is what kind of protein you will be having and without looking at the menu it's hard to pick because obviously its a suprise. Would be better to take the order along the way and add it to bill at the end, right? I picked a make your own salad "big" size. After picking my protein I waited an additional amount of time so the staff could make another person in front of me a wrap. Backwards in my opinion again. After waiting, I assumed this place was similar to a competitive salad bar where you pay a upfront fee for greens proteins and extra for specialty items. As I made my way through the line I picked out 4 ingrediants including corn, two cheeses, and chicken. As I asked for cucumber the lady stopped me and said "all additional ingredients will be .75cents extra." I replied, "so, I cant get tomatoes or any additional basic veggies without paying extra?" The answer was no. So I chose my dressing and ate a very lack luster salad. The staff was very friendly and did a very good job. The system here however, is very poor. Andrea provided me with the most outstanding, personable customer service this evening! She is without a doubt, one of the most upbeat and friendly people I have spoken with in the longest time. I cannot even begin to express in words how immensely thankful and appreciative I am for Andrea being so sweet and kind, and I hope that she will be recognized for being such a genuinely amazing person and associate of your company! I have worked in the customer service industry myself for a decade and a half, and needed to take the time to commend Andrea’s above and beyond commitment to making me feel like a sincerely cared for customer. You are extremely lucky to have such an extraordinary person working for your company. First- I guess the register at the begging of the line where you don’t pay was stuck and the girl used a pair of prongs to pry it open and stuck the prongs back in the silver bowl. Gross. We ordere to make your own salad. Never was mentioned you can only have up to four toppings and each additional is $.75 after. Who only has four toppings in their salad. Even their other named salads have more than that. My daughter asked what an item was and was answered and just put it in her salad without inquiring if she wanted it. And if you really look, the amounts they add are too much. They could put half the amount and give you eight choices. Then they charged us for three drinks. We got them and they tasted off so we asked them if the carbonation was wrong. We were informed they knew about it but didn’t know when someone was coming to fix it. Thanks for charging us for drinks and not giving us a heads up they machine wasn’t working. Entirely overpriced for a salad with four toppings and an undrinkable drink.
