While spending some time enjoying lunch at Buddy’s I watched the surf instructors with a youth group . At 48 years old I decided to give surfing a try. The young men that run TI SURF SCHOOL are extremely professional. When I called to book an appointment there was almost an immediate response. They had been very busy and assured me that they would find an opening for me. I found myself on the beach two days later learning to stand up on a board. I’m a bit timid and normally don’t go past my waist in the ocean . These guys paid so much attention to detail that I gained confidence as the morning went on. They explained the boards and wave patterns in a way that only true waterman know. Saftey was a number one concern . I managed to get up on the board after what seemed like 27 attempts . Instructors Holden and Hunters patience is well beyond their years . They stayed with me in the water. Their calm and encouraging demeanor helped me to succeed. Exceptional Surfing Experience with TI Surf School! We recently had the pleasure of watching our kids take surf lessons with Holden, and we can't recommend them enough! All of the instructors are friendly, knowledgeable, and passionate about teaching others how to surf. Holden broke down the basics of surfing into easy-to-understand steps, and his patience and encouragement helped my 5 and 7 year old feel comfortable in the water. A wonderful experience! My 15 year old son had a blast and is super excited about surfing. This experience made his beach trip. He loves the water and has always wanted to take surf lessons. I happened to be walking on the beach yesterday and the instructors were teaching a class. They were attentive to the students, answering questions, observing their techniques and giving feedback. The same was true for my son's lesson as well. Holden was professional, friendly, and very knowledgeable...my son was so excited to tell me all the stuff he learned and how much fun he had. The location was easy to find and the upper deck allowed for a great view of the entire lesson. I would highly recommend Topsail Island Surf School...we will...
