We visited this hotdog shack while we were on vacation this past week. They had great reviews and advertisements that they had great food. We did have a large order because we were ordering for 7 people together. We ordered three Carolina Dogs, a plain hotdog, three cheese burgers, a chicken sandwich, chicken nuggets and 6 orders of fries. The hotdog price was reasonable, and I personally thought the other prices were a little high when we ordered but I figured if the food was as good as it was advertised then it would be worth it. All together I think our total was close to $98.00. It didn’t take long at all for our food to come out and we got it to go because we were traveling to North Topsail to meet family members for lunch. When we arrive we opened our trays and were highly disappointed. We received 3 Carolina dogs, a plain hotdog, a chicken sandwich, nuggets, a hotdog with mustard?? (We didn’t order that) and all of our fries. We didn’t receive any of our hamburgers which means that we had people in our party who missed out on lunch and honestly it wasn’t worth the 20 minute drive back to Surf City for us to correct the missing food. Everyone who ate a hotdog did say it was very good. But all of the fries were soggy and definitely not worth the almost $4 each we paid for them. I think only 2 people in our party ate the fries. The chicken sandwich was ok but not exactly what I expected for an $8 sandwich.

Overall, to pay nearly $100 I feel like we could had gotten better food somewhere else for everyone to enjoy. But that is my personal opinion.

I definitely gave the atmosphere a 5 star because the area was super cute and kept up with. It is actually located conveniently in surf city. The staff was really nice, the dinning areas were really clean. And they had a 100% sanitation grade posted in their order window which is always a good...

We came here bc of the good reviews and were grossly disappointed. I ordered 2 chili dogs without the bun in the same container and got barely enough chili and cheese to cover 1 dog let alone 2. The hot dog was barely warm and the chili was stone cold and when given another 2 newly made dogs they blamed my cold chili on the onions, like a few diced onions was enough to turn chili cold. insert eye roll He said they added extra piping hot cheese and once again was given barley warm food with hardly any chili (after I paid for EXTRA chili). Their idea of piping hot is really luke warm at best. No responsibility for the error at all and no apology, just excuses they pulled out of their rears. My husband had 2 dogs that again were very lack luster, chintzy on ingredients, and the pork sandwich had zero flavor. This place should be the poster child for "You get what you pay for." If you want a cheap meal to tie you over till you get better food, this...

We had high hopes for this place, but were quickly disappointed. I had two Carolina dogs, fries and sweet tea. My husband had a German dog and a chili cheese dog, fries and mt dew. Both of us were underwhelmed. The chili and slaw were both bland. They must be trying to cut corners because the toppings could have been more plentiful. Fries were good, tea was good. Service was lacking other than it was quick. The lady taking orders at the window never cracked a smile, nor did she say thank you, come see us again or anything of that nature. My husband was disappointed that his German dog was just a regular hot dog instead of a brat. This place has potential, but could use some tweaking. We love hot dogs, so we've had our share of good and bad. For the price, we expected more. I don't normally leave negative reviews, but the owners need to take their customers opinions to heart and make some changes. I doubt we'll...

I got the Carolina dog and a side of fries. Total was $10 and some change, and I skipped on the drink. Not much value here with small portions and oven baked (not fried) French fries. If ya'll are going to charge $6 for a side of fries, you could at least make them palatable by frying them instead of baking them. Last time I had baked fries was in a high-school cafeteria and they were as unsatisfying then as they are now. Seems like a rookie move in the kitchen to be honest. Service was average and the hotdog was decent enough. The slaw seemed homemade and was fresh yet I finished the hotdog in all of about 3 bites. I'll be trying other hotdog places next time I'm on the island for a comparison. Unfortunately, the baked fries and small portions didn't create a return customer this time around.

I had the Carolina Dog (pictured) and the Chicago Dog. Buns were perfectly steamed. Dogs are good, Sabrett dogs. Toppings were good - but not necessarily authentic. The Chicago had relish and the Sabrett onions in sauce - I'm accustomed to a Chicago dog getting "dragged through the garden" - pickle spear, tomato slice, sport peppers, green relish, mustard, celery salt. Carolina dog's toppings were okay. Fries were seasoned crinkle fries and were on point. Fun atmosphere, friendly service, great "I'm vacationing at the beach and having a hot dog" place.Service was timely, too. I'd recommend it!

What a great beach joint! Our crew of 6 adults and kids had hot dogs, hamburgers and fries. ALL of it was great! The kid taking orders at the window was friendly and helpful. The food was really good (I like a good dog... and these were good dogs). Found parking right there. Right across from the beach and convenient to most everything in the area. Lots of tables/seating. Wife got a burger and really enjoyed it. Considering the location and convenience, the prices were pretty good. If we're ever back in the area, we'll be back.
