Olympic Valley Ski & Bike — Local services in Tahoe City

This is a hidden gem hiding in plain sight directly across the street from the parking lot at Palisades. It is a favorite of locals and pros. The cornerstone of the business is its owner Scott and his staff of absolute legends who are all much better skiers than you but never act like it. They are funny guys and the vibe is always positive. We spent a total of 5 weeks up there this season and I always left this shop feeling like I learned something.

The inventory is curated. It's a skiers dream in that sense, particularly their demo wall which I would assume is the widest and best selection anywhere in Tahoe. Want to demo some high end Black Crows, or the latest Bents or Enforcers? This is the place. For contrast, this is the opposite of a corporate store like Parallel in the village. I'm sure the prices are much better as well.

They do a perfect job with waxings, edging, and tunings. They repair scuffs and keep our gear inspected and safe. We drop off our skis before they close when we arrive in the valley and then we pick them up at 8am with a deep wax and our edges nice and sharp ready to ski for the week. I'm looking forward to buying some powder skis from them based on their recommendations. I have referred many people to this shop because of the service and selection. Wanted to share how wonderful this rental shop made us feel compared to the one down the street, which is like contrasting night and day. Friendly and attentive employees who were happy to fit us and answer our questions. Very trusting as well given that we were not charged until we returned.
