So my husband and I had a long day of working (building stages in a hot and humid building) and based on our prior experience at Winn Dixie with the hot bar wings decided to go there for the dinner. We were sweaty and tired. We view the hot bar and ALL of the wings are old and dried-out in appearance. The lady who was working in the deli deligently ignored all customers in the deli by being face deep in the refrigerator. She then proceeds to the sink to wash something and I ask the worker that just so happen to walk up to the counter which caught the Deli lady's attention. I ask the worker if she knew if the deli could cook fresh wings. She said she didn't know and was on her break. The Deli lady then proceeds to walk to the counter, mainly to see what her fellow worker wanted but had to ask me my needs because I was standing there. I asked her about the wings and if they would cook fresh wings based on the condition of the hot bar. She told me no and said she was about to close the hot bar down for the day. I said ok thank you and walked away. I told my husband what she said and he wanted me to ask if she would discount what was there based on the being old. I told him no based on her demeanor and encouraged him to use his "deep sexy voice" and sweetness to see if she would help him. lol... It didn't work. She said they don't discount and there was nothing wrong with the wings. So as my husband and I now stood at the hot bar trying to decide on our next move she walks over and says let me see what you are talking about. We both said they were dried and old looking. She said in an defensive manner they aren't old we cooked new ones "twice" today. She also told us that the wings would either be trashed or marked down for "EBT". Despite my protest my husband purchased the wings anyway. They were indeed horrible, hard, and old as we suspected. What a waste of time and money... Never again!!!!...
Read moreThis is my first shopping at Winn-Dixie. The experience was overall satisfactory except at the check-out. The time was 9:54pm but all the normal checkout lanes were closed. Only self-checkout was open. I hate using self-checkout because I always have various difficulties using it; this time is no exception. Fortunately, there was a shop assistant who helped me get through the self-checkout. I heard that the cashier of normal checkout lanes left after 9:30pm, but the official closing time of Winn-Dixie is 10:00pm. I don't know why these employees can leave early while there are still many customers who need normal checkout. If they have plenty of reasons to justify their early leave, take a look at Publix. Publix closes at 10:00pm too, but its employees at normal checkout lanes do not stop until all the customers left, when it is well after 10:00pm. If you argue that this is because the salary of Winn-Dixie cashiers is lower than that of Publix, I don't know, but my impression of this first shopping is that the price tags of Winn-Dixie are as high as Publix. Furthermore, at least the shop assistant who helped me was working at 9:54pm. Why can't she do the cashier's job? Why didn't she leave early? I'm afraid I am not the only one who needs help with self-checkout because the assistant also helped other customers in her hurry. So, if this review can be seen by the manager of this Winn-Dixie store, I hope the manager can ask the cashiers to be more disciplined and dutiful. If the closing time is published to be 10:00pm, my understanding and expectation is that all units of the store should be in full-operational status till then. Of course, if even the manager of Winn-Dixie thinks that it is not supposed to be the case, one star is what this Winn-Dixie store is supposed to receive for its poor customer service and...
Read moreThis use to be a good neighborhood store. Slowly, I have seen changes over the years. Their prices have become higher, and their customer service has been less than enthusiastic....... Recently, I stopped by the store the night before hurricane Michael hit Tallahassee. An announcement was made over the loud speaker to bring our purchases to the front. I did so. There were 3 lines open with 4 different people checking out. I was the last of them. I had only a few items. They refused to check me out and did not even explain until I asked several times, "Why". They said the power was going to go out soon because they were checking on something. The manager oddly claimed repeatedly that he had no responsibility in that announcement to come to the front of the store and check out. The other people had checked out and were long gone as I continued to talk to the manager. I told him that within the time that I was arguing with him, I could have paid for my few items and then be gone. With insincere apologies, he told me that I would just have to wait while giving me no reference of time. Then the lights went out, and the store went dark for a few seconds. The lights came back on and nobody said anything. I was upset and felt that I had wasted my time and...
