I'm a regular at World Market. They are affordable, their stuff is interesting, stylish, and it makes Pier 1 look like cheap crap. I've decorated most of my house in WM items and my kitchen is stocked with their cookware and food.
Recently they have fallen out of my favor due to an experience I had with a lack of customer care. This review is a bit long, sorry! ... In June I went to purchase a complete outdoor patio set. They set was not in stock at my store so I was told to come back. Then the furniture went on sale so I got a raincheck because it still was not in stock. A few weeks later I got an email that all outdoor furniture is marked down to up to 50% and the furniture was still not in stock. Nor was it ever available online. At this point THEY ARE ADVERTISING SOMETHING THEY DO NOT HAVE nor will they ever get in because the summer season is ending. Knowing that this mark down would clear any last inventory at ANY WM store, I called customer service. Customer service told me to call the store manager. I called the store manager and she is unable to do anything because she doesn't know if it will come in the next shipment. I call customer service back, they tell me about three other stores that might have it but they are at the closest a four-hour drive from me. I called those stores, they cannot ship those items to me or to my local store. I call cusomer service, they gave me the number for coorporate. I tell corporate I will pay out of my own pocket for the items to be shipped to their store so I can go pick it up. Corporate says I can't do that because its not company policy. Short of renting a truck and driving accross the country to pick up this furniture, there was no way provided by WM for me to make this purchase. Its just very dissapointing from a store I...
Read moreRude cashier! We spent about 45 minutes in the store making lists of items that we needed for decorating a couple of rooms in our rental. We didn't have enough time for measurements or getting amounts, so we were planning our attack for our next visit of listed purchases. As we checked out, my partner was asked about watching the game (FSU) and he stated that we were busy today and he wasn't able to watch it. But mentioned that I wasn't interested as I am an opposing sport team supporter. At this point, I have not spoken a work about any teams. I was rudely asked 'why are you here?" I then replied, 'because I live here!'. The cashier then said, 'no, I mean if you don't like FSU, why do you live here?' Seriously dumbfounded that I am seen as unworthy to live in Tallahassee, I said nothing and walked out. Her face was scrunched up and her tone was elitist say the least. She was dead serious. Even my partner was upset. He has told several people about this. To think that someone is only allowed to live where they celebrate local teams only....this is laughable. Please don't shop here unless you are an FSU or FAMU booster! You will be mocked and questioned. Your money isn't wanted here, apparently! I sent an email to complain about a month ago.... crickets. So, this behavior is acceptable....
Read moreI adore this place. If happiness were a place, this would be it for me. It's like a little world tour of furniture, kitchenware, decorative trinkets, art, and exotic foods. The service is excellent as management is knowledgeable regarding wines and spirits and has retroactively redeemed coupons for me. I would recommend that you sign up for their membership because you get awesome deals like 15% off or $10 off $40 (the workers even rang me up where I could get both deals and I saved a fortune). Foods we have enjoyed from there include decadent European and South American chocolates, stinky cheeses, mixed olives, spicy sausages, rose and chocolate wines, and international sodas. I impulse bought the most amazing papasan chair that had a canopy and it was one of the happiest days of my life. It was great quality and a great deal. I shop there when I need to feel treated, intrigued, and rich. One day I will buy their nice wall decor and art and feel very...
