There’s always that one employee with any company who can be the cause of a bad review. I went into the Tallahassee location on Thomasville Road two Sundays ago, and the gentleman who helped me was not truthful about the purchase. I told him what I was looking for and the price I was looking for and he completely insisted that that was last year‘s model. I don’t care about any year model as long as it’s new. But with the price point I was looking for he insisted on a clearance item which again I didn’t care about. I made the purchase, left, and went about my day. I called on Thursday to get a status of the order and as I’m looking over my invoice, I see the word preowned in the description of my mattress. The gentleman who took my call, mind you was someone else, Did inform me that it was a preowned mattress, however had been sanitized. I was absolutely disgusted and irritated and explained to this gentleman the person I dealt with on Sunday, Louis, did not explain to me what a clearance item actually is. He apologized so many times, and was not argumentative at all about me wanting to cancel my order. Because of the second person I may do business with mattress firm in the future But beware that a clearance item at mattress firm is actually a preowned item. GROSS

This is an update to my experience with mattress firm. The manager called me today and profusely apologized with the lack of information that was given to me. And even offered to give me a pillow at no cost. For those of you who have shopped at mattress firm for pillows, you know that pillows can be quite pricey. The ending to this has been quite satisfactory. Because of this customer service from the manager, I would urge others to shop in this location. I would not urge you to deal with Louis!

Another update…. I went to this Mattress Firm to see the manager and pick out the pillow he offered me. When I arrived, the front door was propped open, one vehicle was in the parking lot, and a sale sign on an easel was set up. I walked in the store and no one was on the sales floor. I waited for about 30 seconds and no one emerged! I was tired of the entire situation and left. What an ordeal. Shopping at Turners Budget Furniture was the best decision. In mid 2019 we purchased a Serta ISERIES 100 mattress, a $1600 mattress. Within a few months, we noticed a problem with the mattress. The mattress was shifting where, when looking from the end, it appeared as a parallelogram instead of a rectangle and was bulging at the sides. We contacted the Mattress Firm store, in Tallahassee on Magnolia St., where we purchased the mattress. We were told that we needed to go through the warranty process, which we did. For a Serta brand mattress you are required to go through The Mattress Firm’s warranty submission procedure, as they handle Serta warranty issues. The warranty claim was denied. The warranty card states: “Serta products are warrantied against manufacturing defects in workmanship and material (excluding covers and handles, except for handles on iSeries and equivalent level mattresses).”

The Tallahassee Mattress Firm Store Manager and their regional management agreed with our assessment of our mattress problem, and came through for us replacing the mattress with the same ISERIES 100 mattress. Within a few months, the replacement started doing the same thing. Again we contacted the Manager at the Tallahassee Mattress Firm Store and were advised to go through the same warranty process, and again it was denied. Again the local store and regional management offered a replacement, and we replaced the Serta with a Beautyrest mattress. We also were told by the assistant manager that the Serta ISERIES 100 had been discontinued and replaced because of design problems.

After we were told that the second defective mattress would be replaced with another mattress, at a cost of $129.00 restocking fee and $100.00 delivery (no option to pickup), we were also informed that this would be the last time they would help out, even though the store management agreed that our two returned Serta mattress had a design defect. I can tell you that the only reason I bought this $4000 Stearns and Foster mattress is because of your super sales person Margie at the store I bought the mattress that About a month ago I bought the exact same mattress I wanted in Raleigh North Carolina from mattress warehouse. I was totally happy with that purchase and I decided on my next visit to Tallahassee, that I want the exact same mattress in my Tallahassee second home. I went to the website and saw mattress firm Carried Stearns and Foster.. She said let me see what I can do and she made several calls. We went back-and-forth and back-and-forth and she was able to find the mattress. When I got to the store I told her I wouldn’t be bad if I could get the same $600 discount that was part of their sale in North Carolina from Stearns and Foster for the Fourth of July sale. She told me that that exact sale was not part of the Mattress from Florida promotion but that I could get a $400 discount instead of the 600 and I could get $200 worth of other sale goodies with the purchase. The manager told her to go ahead with the $600 discount to make the sale. She wise we got approval before doing anything not part of your program. All that effort paid off and I bought the product from mattress firm. Margie is a super representative for you and should be rewarded. If I didn’t get that $600 I was planning to purchase it from mattress warehouse. It was all because of Margie‘s efforts that she completed the sale. I was also impressed that while I was there there were three other people waiting just to see her. I’m not used to seeing a lot of people in a mattress store just to see one person.
