Nambé Taos — Local services in Taos

As a local I am appalled by the lack of customer service I received today. As a shopper who far too frequently shops at the Taos Nambe store as do all my colleagues. I think it’s time we reconsider supporting this company. Our locals don’t deserve the poor customer service nor would I send clients there if this is the new management they’re operating under. Today, I met Sally the new manager. I was never greeted, welcomed or asked if I needed any assistance. Rather I felt like she felt bothered I asked any questions and refused to help me locate items I’ve previously bought. Sally completely ignored me until I started looking at the expensive bowls. Then she told me, she would grab the bowls herself. However, when a group of women, non locals walked in the store while I was shopping. Sally was completely attentive to them, asked if they needed help, greeted them and even offered to carry items to the front so they could shop comfortably. They bought a couple little items and went about their day. Sally was completely friendly to them and thanked them as they left. Another set of individuals walked in who were locals and appeared to only be browsing. Sally again offered no services and was completely rude. Rather rushed them out. She clearly didn’t want either of us in her store. Which os a rather crazy notion to me as I hate to admit I shop here frequently. I finally got all my items together another hefty order as I needed to get items for clients. She refused to wrap any items and was quick to remind me there are no discounts. A little uncalled for, but ok. Then I asked, “no Antonio? He was so kind.” She quickly told me he was fired for giving too many discounts. She rang me up and not even so much as a thank you for stopping by, literally nothing. She even gave the eye roll when I asked for separate bags for each item. It’s rather sad that this is acceptable to Nambe, the class and elegance of this place really wasn’t apparent in any way today. Shameful and embarrassing that this is...

The Nambe metal work is amazing and we have purchased a number of items here from bowls, to candle sticks, to the silverware we use every day. We will usually stop in here when we are on the square just to see what is new and of course to check out the current sales.
