Just know they have a challenging return policy, which is 3 days for refund and 7 days for store credit. I got store credit and went in last Wednesday to look for something for work. I'm local and as much as possible keep my money local, but when I walked in the owner started following me very closely. It made me feel uncomfortable and a little bit discriminated against. I went upstairs to a place I last saw a cute tweed blazer and she asked one of the associates to essentially be right by side the entire time I shopped. I just kept sending the associate to the dressing room to take my items. I went an hour before they closed but felt rushed by the owner, but the associate was patient. The associate ended up being super cool and friendly. She took me to different garments and took care to try to help me find something near to what I was searching for. The owner harshly corrected the associate twice while I was there and I felt bad about how the employee was treated. I didn't find what I was looking for, (the clothes feel like they're more for older ladies and some are expensive polyester garments) but did get a pair of great Toms sunglasses. When I was leaving, I swear I heard someone ask the person helping me "is that all she got?!" The employees are very helpful here, there are always fun treasures here, but the owner is very rude and did not make me feel welcome. I'll cautiously recommend...
Read moreI love Lior pants and remembered that I purchased my first pair at Stepping out, so I attempted a purchase, in order to shop local. They are GREAT work pants, you should try them! They were out of my size but said they could order. The attendant seemed to be new and was taking direction from another women. She was impatient and agitated with the attendant, which was adding to her difficulties. A few weeks later I realized I hadn't heard anything about my order. I called and spoke with a friendly woman who could not find the order. I mentioned that it had been a difficult transaction and perhaps the order hadn't been placed. I was promised a call back by EOD but didn't receive it. I called back the next business day and the woman who answered the phone was short with me, said I should have an order number and wasn't nice about it. I asked for her name and she said she was the owner. After repeating my email address to her several times I started to realize this may be the woman who was training my attendant. In the end I received a credit back to my card and a half hearted I'm sorry. Life is short, I sincerely hope whatever is causing you distress shifts and you find a way...
Read moreHow can you not love a store whose tagline is "Wearable Happiness?" The staff are helpful, not pushy and provide honest feedback about fashion choices. Every time I go into the store, I am greeted and get the feeling of "we want customers for life" and never "let's just make the sale." Given that Taos has very limited choices when it comes to quality women's clothing, Steppin Out is a true gem. The fashion and shoe choices are outstanding and the jewelry collection is stellar and great for a special girlfriend gift or a treat for oneself! I always bring my out of town guests to enjoy shopping there and I have to admit, they are surprised at finding this kind of store being in such a small town. I...
