My husband and I are on a road trip from Nashville, TN. Tombstone was one of our stops in between Big Bend National Park and the Grand Canyon. We spent one day in the town which mostly consisted of walking in and out of all of the shops browsing and trying to knock some Christmas shopping off of our list. My husband loves to collect art when we travel and he was super excited when we walked into this store. We both had coats on, as did most of the people walking through the shops as it was cold outside yesterday. Every single shop owner and employee we had encountered throughout the day was incredibly friendly and kind. When we began browsing through this shop, the employee proceeded to follow us around the store. We thought, at first, that she was just being overly helpful. I had picked up two small items to purchase and the employee quickly made it over to me and asked to take the items to the counter. My husband and I both thought that was odd and, again, shrugged it off. She continued to follow us and ask if we had any other questions. At this point, we assumed that she thought we were there to shoplift. I have never had an experience like this in my entire life and I have certainly never shoplifted. Regardless of her attempts to rush us out of the store, I continued to look at pieces that I hadn’t yet seen and the employee approached me to point out items that were “cheaper” even noting “look, this one is only $6”................my husband and I are both young professionals and, considering we’ve been on the road and living out of suitcases for a week now, I still thought we were dressed in a way that would warrant a little dignity. We made a $30 purchase and left the store. Honestly, I regret that we even spent that much money after the way we were treated. I have never written a Google review for a store before but this experience was bad enough that I thought I...
Read moreI came in dressed in shorts and a dirty t-shirt specifically because I stopped in on my way back to Tucson from rock hounding in Bisbee. I was in the market for a men's Carico Lake turquoise cuff, ~$2500. I asked the older gentleman behind the counter who seemed to be running the store if he had any Carico. He showed me a few puny thin women's cuffs in sallow light greens, sad pieces for the unknowing. I asked if he had anything substantial. He did not and then turned the conversation to inform me passively condescendingly that something that size was going to run about $3000-$$4000. As if I should brace myself. Trying to be polite, I said yes, Carico has gotten expense. This is where he took the opportunity not to commiserate but to correct me to inform me that it was in FACT the silver cost that would cause a $1000 larger price. He said the main cost in these pieces was the price of silver which was according to him "about to go up to $40". That day silver was about $29. These cuffs MAYBE have 5 oz of silver in them when they are very heavy. If the price goes up $10, that's $50 more. Seeing that his math was bent to lead to fear, I left the store. Once you've been to the Tucson Gem Shows, you realize none of the metals in these silver indian jewelry store value. If you don't find a collector or a bigger sucker, they are sold at Spot Less $1 per ounce for scrap. I know because I almost sold some very nice Navajo silver and turquoise pieces in Tucson at one of the best bullion dealers in town the day before but was told this is how they are bought, so I canceled the sale. So, to imply that an increase in spot would geometrically increase the cost of the jewelry told me he was a fear monger...
Read moreI wanted to share one of the BEST customer service experiences I have ever had. I have worked with the public for over 20 years and this experience blew me away. We went to Tombstone in July of 2021 for my husbands 50th birthday, we walked the streets of tombstone and bought quite a bit of jewelry from both of Arlene's shops. Customer service was great at that time but that is not what I am writing about. We had been home a few months and my daughter called me from work one night crying hysterically about the ring I had bought her at the shop in Tombstone. It was 9PM in CA on October 14th, this poor girl would not stop crying. She said someone had stolen it. I was at a loss, I immediately went to the website and sent an email stating what had happened. To my surprise I received a response back at 9:41PM from the owner of the company! He stated he would help me in getting her a new ring. The next morning he sent me pictures of the rings they had that looked very similar to the one that was stolen. Once we picked the new ring I was able to call and pay over the phone and the girl who answered knew exactly who I was and why I was calling. She took my payment and the ring arrived at my home a few days later. My daughter was so excited, she wears the ring EVERYDAY and I will be forever thankful for the excellent customer service that Arlene's employees and the president gave in helping me get a new ring for my daughter....
