DICK'S Sporting Goods — Local services in Torrance

I first called to ask for the item I needed. The guy was the most unmotivated employee. I went to the store and the item doesn't even exist there. I should have known by the guys attitude. Once at the store it was nearly impossible to find help. The few people I saw there were as unmotivated as the guy who answered the phone. When I got someone they referred me to Trey. Trey was great. He helped me look for the item and went above and beyond to see if there was a slight chance they had it. He is the example of caring enough to help a customer who would seemingly get lost in a huge store like Dick's. He's the reason I'm giving it 3 stars. Without him, this store does not even deserve one star. It's apparent management is not doing a good job. They're not training they're employees or making sure they're customer service skills are satisfactory. Management is the reason I went to Amazon to buy what I needed. I was prepared to buy more items but I was extremely disappointed that I made a long trip to this store and they didn't have what I needed. UPPER MANAGEMENT! Get a clue guys. I went to this Dick’s Sporting Goods store because my brother needed to return some clothes that didn’t fit. The clerk was very nice and took the returned merchandise. She directed us to exchange the clothing with other options.

The store is big, and it carries lots of sporting merchandise. There is for men, women, and kids. They carry a lot of big brands like Nike, Adidas, Under Armour, and Puma. The store was clean and well kept. The only issue that I had was my brother was trying to try on the clothes he wanted to exchange but we couldn’t find an available fitting room. They need to fix the fitting room locks because from the outside the lock shows “Vacant”, but it was always locked. It was very confusing and when trying to seek help from the staff there were nowhere to be found. In addition, the buttons outside the fitting rooms to call staff didn’t work because nobody was showing up. Since we couldn’t find an empty fitting room my brother had to try the jackets in the middle of the store.

Not one to write negative reviews but I feel this needs to be addressed. I had went inside the store looking for a baseball bat. I noticed the batting cage was open, in which there is a huge sign encouraging people to walk in and swing. I tested out the variety of bats, and as I was doing so, one of the older workers upstairs questioned how I got in, and was being extremely rude. I had answered telling him that it was unlocked, to where he rudely told me to “get out of the cage”. I was very confused because the cage was wide open, and the signs encouraged us to walk in. Unfortunately I did not get his name, but it was an old white male working upstairs. I’ve never had a bad experience with customer service there, but I guess there’s always that one bad apple.
