One of the worst experiences today ever by a store manager and her staff. Today my 18 year old daughter, my grandchild and I walked into Nordstroms at the Del Amo Mall Fashion Center in Torrance excited to get a head start on some pre-holiday shopping and just getting out on a beautiful Sunday. My best friend gifted us all shoes and unfortunately they didn't fit on my granddaughter and my daughter. We decided to take them back and receive a gift card so that as my friend suggested whatever doesn't work for us we should take back and get what works best for us. Never ever thought or expected what occurred today.
We approached a register over near the free people clothing line section, upstairs on the second floor with our bag of shoes to return. A salesperson by the name of Rita along with another woman next to her named Irvana both looked at each other and Rita replied "let me guess a return right?" Both ladies began to laugh and from the very beginning they treated my family with rudeness and appalling behavior. I had explained the shoes didn't fit and so we just wanted to see what we could find instead and receive perhaps a gift card. They looked at each again and then Rita continued with the return. All the while Irvana was assisting a Caucasian family with their also large return but for some reason didn't make fun of them (my guess is they have shopped with her before idk but she was quite polite to them) I am Mexican-American. Then Rita tells me how cute the toddler shoes are and I don't want to keep them??? Why would a salesperson ask this minutes after a customer just explained the size was too big. She wasn't listening to anything I said apparently and their faces said it all they had judged us and made sure to humiliate us. The mother and son next to us looked at us and the fact that these 2 salespeople made us feel unwelcome and uncomfortable made for the worst experience we ever had at a store. I used to work at Nordstroms back in the late 90's for years and my oldest daughter also worked there for 2 years back 2019-2021. We both prided ourselves in our excellent customer service care to our customers and never would ever treat anyone this way or start off telling a customer such a thing. I would greet a customer by first saying "hello, how are you, how can I help you?" Once the customer shares what they need I might offer to help them find something else and make sure they have a wonderful experience and help build a customer-salesperson relationship which Nordstrom's taught us to do so that customers continue to shop at our store, come to our sales where we'd mail little personal cards and so on. This store used to stand out and above the rest and that was where I would say to this day I have gained sone of my best sales skills and also I carry myself very mannered and polite as that is how we were raised. That said, this place is and never will be what it once was. It's no wonder the store is empty most of the year unless it's the holidays. You used to see salespeople who were vibrant and helpful, smiling and cordial and professional. Now I kid you not I confuse it with an indoor swap meet and sone of these "salespeople" should not be working here as they do nothing for the stores image and sadly their attitude represents the store. Store managers need to do better with who they allow to manage departments and that's also why I'm writing this because when I asked Irvana if I can talk to her manager she replied she is the manager! Shocked that a manager can behave so poorly and so unprofessional. I have had better service that was impeccable at Taco Bell and McDonald's. This is no longer a place I ever want to shop at and will not be back. My daughter xN use her gift card and that will be the end of that. I had a talk with this "manager Irvana" and told her that she made my daughter feel bad and my daughter had to walk away with her baby because it made her feel bad and she never had this happen to her...
Read moreI had a horrible experience at this place I was shopping for make up at the mac section. We saw that they had some kind of gift bags on sale so we open some of the bags to see what they had inside as we kept looking threw the bags a employee by the of Sanaa approached us and told us everything that was inside the bags was on display but never did she offer her help to us after my cousin had opened up one of the lipsticks she came running and was very angry because she said now she needs to mark that down but she came running up to us in a very ugly manner no kind of customer service so I told him that we understand that so how are we suppose to know what do the bags have inside she said I could of helped so I did tell her that she had came up to us before just letting us know the samples were on the table but never did she offer to help us.. she was very rude and ugly to us, She then went to go call her manager who also approached and embarrassed us in front of plenty other people shopping telling us where was all the stuff we had open? Almost got all in my face a MANAGER? No kind of skills / customer service. I did explain to her that only one was open and the other employee took it with her so I explain how nobody ever asked us if we needed help so she said if we had questions she will help us.. so we ended up buying a eye liner because we couldn't shop comfortable after being embarrassed in front of so many people we got approached like if we were trying to steal. I did let the manager know we are daily customers not out first time. As we exit the store the other employee pretty much made fun of us and said bye bye in a very fake way like making fun of us I've never in my life felt so embarrassed at a store in front of so many people.. ugly customer service and...
Read moreCalled over the weekend and spoke to a salesperson regarding the Patagonia puff jacket. I told him I'd be in on Tuesday afternoon. I arrived at the store after heavy traffic and came in contact with Jordan. I asked about the jacket and he told me it was "over there". I don't believe that's how Nordstroms trains their staff. After I couldn't locate it I went over to another register and spoke to a young lady who showed me a couple of xxl which didn't flatter me as Im a medium. I then asked about ordering the jacket and was told they are completely out of stock. Mind you there still a week to go for the ad. Jordan then tells me to keep an eye out for it on the website. What!! This is Nordstroms's and you are a commissioned sales person. Do your job!!. I then speak to the department manager who apologizes and takes my info and assures me she will let me know when it's in stock again. Ok that's done but upon leaving the store I decide to call in and speak to the store manager. She got on the phone and them told me they have been out of stock since the 4-5 day of sale. Why have me drive over there, then tell me "it's over there" knowing u r out of stock. Jordan... bad service for me regardless if you have a following or not. You should switch places with ur assistant. Don't worry about me as I'll find the jacket and call the store manager but ur not going to make any sales commission from me. You...
