Tops Friendly Markets — Local services in Town of Big Flats

Overall I had great experience there. Lady at the service desk was polite along with the lady at the deli counter. The reason for not giving 5 stars is the old lady at self checkout. Now I get that they need to make sure everything gets scanned. I use to work at Safeway and I had to do the same. What bothered me was every item I scanned she would say "what did you just put in the bag?" After each item I scanned it would go in the bag one by one. I got 10 items so imagine being asked 10 times "what did you just put in the bag?". I got apple juice and I did not put that in a bag but set it next to my other bag that had food in it. Before I put my card in she told me I didn't scan the apple juice and that i needed to do it again. I had corrected her and said no it shows on the screen "vt apl cktl 64F 1.09" she kept saying I didn't scan it. I had proof yet she kept going on about I didn't scan it. So after a little bit I became sturn and irritated when talking to her. I don't come to Tops to be interrogated over 1.09 off brand apple juice. I want to pay for ALL my stuff and go on about my day. If they feel the need to do that to customers then maybe they should open more check out...

This place is getting worse, if that's possible. Nearly every refrigerator is leaking and all floors are wet and hazardous. Shelves are Constantly empty, especially the fresh produce area. Today whole isles were empty, and when I asked a member of staff what was going on they said they "didn't know, as they tell us nothing". So as one can see management is not informing their employees let alone cudtomers. Just an all round badly run store with no store management ever present or availble! Update. Feb 22: I didn't think it possible, but this place is getting worse! They have dropped several lines, and only sell the cheapest of products, and low end items that make this place not worth the effort. I work retail and shop alot. Today's experience (which was worse than usual) I ran into produce to get ginger. The guy stocking abruptly stood there annoyed that I was in his way. Scooted his way in then refused to let me back in to get more ginger. No greeting either. Then while passing many others, you get a miserable stare. At checkout, could've possibly been a manager. Miserable stare like I was bothering her. No greet. Ignorant and rude. Made me burning... You can't learn to treat customers with any form of respect then you belong working the graveyard shift.!
