Kyoto Hibachi & Seafood — Restaurant in Town of Big Flats

Poor service, a shady manager, and an overall horrible experience.

I went with a group of friends for a hibachi dinner to celebrate a birthday. I, along with some random couple opposite me at the grill, ordered the filet. Everyone else at the table ordered the steak. The chef separated the two cuts to keep everything straight, but managed to serve the entirety of the filet to the couple, while I got the steak everyone else ordered. Multiple people at the table noticed this, but when I pointed it out, I was told I was wrong; not only by the chef, but the manager, who was no where near the table to witness anything. I told them it was not a big deal, but I was not going to pay extra for something I did not receive. Their solution: scoop the steak off my plate, take it out back for 3 minutes to cook/dry out more, then serve it to me again covered in teriyaki sauce, call it a filet, and continue to charge me extra for something I did not receive.

At the same time, they brought another person in my party a sushi roll that tasted rancid. She received three different explanations/excuses for the taste before being told by the manager that the roll, which she had ordered multiple times prior, was apparently supposed to taste like it had gone bad. After fifteen minutes of back and forth over this, the manager finally agreed to get her a fresh roll, but took the original and never ended up coming back. Instead, he had the waitress tell her he took it off her bill, which was not true. Thankfully, she checked the receipt before she left and was able to have the cost refunded.

No part of this experience was enjoyable, so if you are thinking about eating here, maybe consider the Taco Bell across the road first. Their service is somehow better, they have the same overcooked/gristly beef, and you can even watch them prepare the food through the drive thru window. UPDATED Third Visit.. Same great food quality, taste, hot and plenty of food. Waitress(Mallory) was wonderful. She handled the entire front room and was on top of everything. BEST Asian restaurant in the area. Previous:First time visit. Nice open, clean restaurant. Three of us dined on the non-hibachi side. Overall experience was very good (will be returning). Staff was all pleasant and greeted us on the way in and out. Server was perfect, pleasant, informative and prompt. We ordered Coconut Shrimp appetizer, veggie roll, shrimp and chicken dinners(noodles and rice). Coco Shrimp tasted great and sauce was a yummy coconut white sauce. Served salads and mushroom soup all good. Veggie roll was delicious and fresh. Dinners all tasty and not swimming in teriyaki sauce thankfully. Shrimp popped a little when biting(cooked perfect) and chicken pieces were tender and tasty. Noodles were perfect with enough sauce on them but not overly done either. All food was fresh, hot and cooked perfectly. Good size portions on all plates. Highly recommend this place. Nice quality food served fresh and presented well. Next visit we try Hibachi side as it looked like the guests were enjoying it. A welcome addition...

I was pleased to have a new place that serves seafood. I was greeted by maybe an owner. She was nice and made small talk! She said we make good food ! I was glad to know so I ordered and waited for the seafood boil up in a bag Cajun sauce! I love spicy I took a walk so I didn’t seem impatient because it was empty no customers! This was Friday about 5:00 I believe. When I came back my food was ready and in the warmer I paid $34 got home I’m diving in and the Sauce is too sweet! Too much cinnamon I added the crab seafood rub but still too sweet no heat like spicy supposed to be! Also one potato cut in half and raw in the middle. Maybe 3 pcs of cut sausages and one corn one snow claw and one pc with a few legs of the reg crab very heavy on crawfish that I don’t eat but she said no substitute now I see why! It’s the filler. Every option for the boil up had crawfish. I was very very disappointed and felt cheated! I was left with the craving for seafood and what I had was a huge disappointment!
