Planet Fitness — Local services in Town of Clay

If you are looking for a gym that is going to rip you off then Planet Fitness is the place. I signed up with Planet Fitness (north Syracuse location) at the beginning of August 2023. I used their facility maybe only once or twice and just didnt like their gym and equipment. At August 29th i went in to this location and cancelled my membership and figured i was good but i was wrong. In the beginning of October i noticed charges in my bank account from Planet Fitness so i contacted Mark the manager at the north syracuse location and told him what was going on. I told him I canceled my membership on August 29th but was still getting charged. He asked if i got a “cancellation sheet” which i did but unfortunately could not find. Since then i have gotten the run around and nothing has been done. They took close to $100 from me since i cancelled my membership and will not refund me what im owed. So now im eating $100 because the employees at Planet Fitness dont know how to do their jobs. This is unacceptable. Ive read through other peoples reviews on google and have seen the same issue. Ill never do business with Planet Fitness again and have family members that are going to cancel their memberships as well. Ive asked to speak to a regional manager and they have just flat out denied me that. This place is such a scam and would avoid this place at all costs! Go to Crunch Fitness if you dont want to be ripped off.

What I had Thought would be a great experience turn into several lies told by the employee I sign up with and Management. I would not recommend going to this gym due to the disrespect of management. I had sign up with the student discount (I had thought) but was not the case as I was lied to from the beginning without knowing. I did have to pay a start up fee even though I was told I wouldn't have to, then I was told that i would be billed on the 11th of each month which was not the case. I was billed on the 18th of my first month which I had thought was strange and then before my checks were deposited in my account i was billed on the 17th which made my account go negative, and a $29 dollar fee from my bank because of the Planet Fitness screw up. I had gone in to the gym to talk to management and he was very rude from the start. He called me a liar and started raising his voice with me after I kept a calm state because I did not want the issue getting worse. I asked for a refund for my start up fee and was told I would not be entitled to it even though I should not have had to pay for it. I read through the contract and followed the instructions for cancelling. I am suppose to be getting my refund but that is still pending. Planet fitness corporate couldn't do anything and was confused as to why Management sent me to them. Just popped in for a quick shower and a TBE. This is probably my last favorite PF for showers. The stalls are small, and I'm only 5'2" and 110 lbs. Even the handicapped shower was just as tight. They did provide a seat for use in the handicapped shower, which I wound up needing to use for my bag because the hooks outside the stall were only good for a towel.

However, Michael made my night by squeezing me in at the last minute for the TBE. It was hectic, and within 20 minutes of closing, and I would have totally accepted if he told me it was too late, but he didn't. Tyr red light therapy is exactly what I needed after the stressful day I had, and thanks to his commitment to the members, I got it! I was going to dock a star for the less than ideal showers, but Michael more than made up for them with his outstanding service!

UPDATE (next day): The limited hours over the weekend for the entire Syracuse region is ridiculous! There isn't a single PF open within 100 miles? Seriously? Every single decent sized city has one that is open until atleast 10pm on the weekends, usually 24 hours. If I lived in this area, I'd be canceling my membership because the gym isn't available to me 90% of the time when I need it most. There is no reason you can't choose 1 PF in the area to...
