The majority of the negative reviews about this place are how expensive it is. Let me start by saying yes it is extremely expensive. a one day pass is $50, a week pass is $130. But here’s the thing-this is the only gym in Sag Harbor so there’s no competition, And people living here don’t really care about paying these amounts to enter a mediocre gym. So putting the cost aside, I think this gym has a lot to improve.
You should know that upon signing up whether it’s for a weekly pass or an annual, even if you’re paying by cash, they require a credit card to be kept on their computers for some reason.
If you’re only in the Hamptons during certain months of the year and want to freeze your membership for when you come back, it is possible but it would cost you $10 a month until you restore the membership.
The majority of the equipment at this gym is old/falling apart/rusty or broken. And almost every machine is from a different company which may sound like nitpicking, but it really doesn’t look good.
The AC is never working well- during the summertime it’s never less than 75 Fahrenheit and in the winter, the AC struggles to keep 65 Fahrenheit.
The men’s bathroom always smells bad with dirty floors and no soap in the dispensary.
The water fountains filter indicating red for forever with no one replacing it.
There’s a vending machine with protein shakes and energy drinks, but for the cost of one protein shake, you could get a month membership at planet fitness gym for example. Just for comparison.
Putting all that aside, the one thing that upset me the most, and made me write this review is one of the workers working at the front desk. I wish I knew her name but she’s a young white/Middle Eastern female that works there about twice a week. The other day when I came to the gym, I noticed she’s wearing a Palestinian scarf. All politics aside, no matter what you think about the situation, wearing political symbols in a public gym as an employee is highly unprofessional in my opinion.
A public mediocre Gym with a premium price should know better about respecting the public and leaving the workout environment and the community a place to do just that, working out, and building yourself, in a safe...
Read moreIt is a small gym, but has all of the equipment that you will need, many treadmills, bikes etc the usual StairMasters, also has a dedicated weight room as well as a dedicated stretching room that has a few extra pieces of equipment in it as well. Also has which I believe is one of its best features a hot sauna and is located actually on the docks of the town so a decent view from the back when you're working out there. Staff staff are helpful. It is a little on the expensive side typically about $100 a month unless you get one of their frequently running specials that run for about 90 days or so that...
Read moreI go to gyms across the country. I've had varying experiences. Let me tell you this is one of the worse. Small, expensive nothing abnormal for a lower level gym.. The manager though he is excpetionally bad. After talking to him about using his facility he told me that i had taken 2 minutes of his time and that was 2 minutes too much.... I'm a gym rat, I need the weights. I JOINED for the weights. It's one thing to be firm in policy its' another thing to be rude and aggressive. IF you have other options i would go with them. GL stay...
